Chapter 60: My Goals
Xavier was in his office, waiting patiently for Ben, who was already on his way to pick him up.
From the window of his office, he could see the reporters who were trying to get in by all means to question him about the news circulating about him, but fortunately, the security guards were never going to let them in. If there was one thing he was happy about, it's the fact that he has sold the company and is no longer going to invest any penny in it again. If not, the event that was taking place outside was among the things that ruined the image of the company, and happily, he has sold the company to the person who ruined it.
As these thoughts were running through his mind, his phone started ringing, jolting him back to reality. Without hesitating, he took the phone and checked the caller ID, which was Ben, and with that, he picked it up.
"Hello, Ben, have you arrived?" Xavier asked him through the phone.
"Yes, sir, I'm already at the garage," Ben said to him.
"Ok, I will be there in some minutes," Xavier said to him before hanging up, and once he had hung up, he walked out of his office and took the direction of the elevator.
Once he got in, he selected the second floor, and after some minutes, the elevator stopped. With that, he came out and walked to one of the locked offices.
On getting to the door, he placed his index finger on the scanner, and after some seconds of scanning, the scanner's red light switched to green, and with that, the office and Xavier walked inside before closing it back.
Once he got inside, he looked at his stuff that were inside the office and sighed heavily. Aside from his main office, which was on the fifth floor, this was his second office, which he called the backup office. Only a few of his trusted employees knew about the office.
Walking to the wall of the office where a large portrait was hanging, he took hold of it with his two hands and pulled it out of the wall. Behind it was a device similar to a safe, and on it were some buttons. Without hesitating, he tapped some numbers on the button, and with that, a side of the wall opened like a door.
Smiling at himself, he took the portrait and returned it to its place before walking out through the door, and with that, it closed and locked itself.
After some minutes of walking, he came to the garage, where Ben was waiting for him in the car.
Once Ben saw him, he immediately came down from the car and opened the door for him.
"Good afternoon, sir," Ben greeted him as he was about to enter the car.
"Good afternoon, Ben. How was your day?" Xavier asked him before entering the car.
"My day was fine, sir," Ben said to him after entering the car, but this time around, Ben didn't ask him how his day was, knowing that he had had a terrible day.
"Sir, the meeting with the board members is at 4 p.m.; will you be present as promised?" Ben asked Xavier after some minutes of silence.
"No, not with the news circulating around about me; you will represent me as usual; I will join through a videoconference," Xavier said to him.
"Okay, sir," Ben said to Xavier, and at the same time, his first phone that he had just switched on started ringing. Taking the phone, he checked the caller ID, which was Charles, and with that, he smiled before shaking his head in disbelief.
"Haven't you yet found anything about Charles?" Xavier asked Ben as the phone was ringing.
"Not yet, boss; he's too discreet in his dealings," Ben said to him.
"Don't stop until you find out the sh*t he is hiding," Xavier said to Charles before picking up the call.
"Hello, Charles, how are you doing?" Xavier asked him casually.
"I'm doing good. What about?" Charles asked him.
"I'm doing good too; how can I help you?" Xavier asked him.
"Actually, I wanted you to teach me how to become famous like you. I mean, you are always on TV every now and then. I want to become like you," Charles said to him in a mockery tone.
"Well, if you want to become like me, all you have to do is do exactly what I'm doing: ruin the image of your company, sell off the company, and also become the personal assistant to the person who you sold the company to," Xavier said to Charles, and immediately he burst into a round of laughter.
"You are so unpredictable; I mean, who does all these things you are doing? Who finds pleasure in humiliating himself in such a manner?" Charles asked Xavier.
"Xavier Quim," Xavier said to him in reply.
"Yeah, you are right; I don't think anyone else can do what you are doing aside from you yourself. By the way, Xavier, let's be frank with each other: why are you doing all this? We both know that you haven't run out of cash to the extent that you will start working as a personal assistant, and even if you had actually run out of cash, why must it be for Sarah that you want to work for while there are many other huge and prestigious companies that could easily recruit you?" Charles asked Xavier.
"Well, you are right, there are many other prestigious companies that could have easily recruited me, but I chose to work with Sarah because I have a goal to reach," Xavier said to him.
"Do you mind telling me what this goal of yours is?" Charles asked Xavier through the phone.
"Do you really want to know what it is? But be warned, you might not like my goals." Xavier said to him before taking his second phone, opening his gallery, and scrolling through the pictures in it.
"Well, I don't care; I just want to know what this goals of yours are," Charles said to Xavier, and with that, he sent some pictures to Charles.
"Take a look at your phone; I sent the goals to you," Xavier said to Charles.
"What is the meaning of this? How dare you? I'm going to kill you." Charles started ranting once he saw the pictures, and with that, Xavier hanged up and switched off the phone.
"I told you that you wouldn't like my goals, but you didn't listen," Xavier muttered to himself while grinning ear to ear.
