Chapter 102: Doubting My Decision
"Any last word before I win?" Sarah asked Justin, who was playing a Ludo game with her in the sitting room.
It was six p.m., and Justin had just finished doing his homework, so he decided to play the Ludo game with his mother. Even though he had never won her before, he was still ready to play with her over and over again expecting the day he will lucky enough to win against her.
"I don't have anything to say; you won again," Justin said to Sarah with a dejected tone, and with that, she smiled at him.
"Don't worry, I will be easy with you on the second round so that you can get the chance to win too," Sarah said to Justin, and he gave her a doubtful stare.
"But that's what you said the first time you won, but you have won two more times without giving me the chance to win," Justin said to Sarah while feigning to be angry, and with that, she smiled at him once again.
"Well, I have been giving you the chances to win, but you aren't noticing it quickly. But don't worry; this time around, I will be very easy with you," Sarah said to Justin reassuringly.
"Promise?" he asked her.
"Yes, promise, but before that, I have to win this first," she said to him before ending the recent one they were playing.
"Shall we?" Justin asked her as they were about to begin a new round, and she nodded in reply.
As they were about to start playing, they heard a knock on the door.
"Let me go and check who it is," Sarah said to Justin while standing up.
Walking to the door, she opened it and saw Lucy standing in front of the door with some files in her hand.
"Hey Lucy, how are you?" Sarah asked Lucy before collecting from her the files she was holding and leaving the road for her so that she could come inside.
"I'm good, Sarah. What about you?" Lucy asked her before sitting down on one of the sofas.
"I'm good too," Sarah said to her before sitting down next to her.
"Good evening, Aunty Lucy," Justin greeted Lucy.
"Hey Justin How are you?" Lucy asked Justin, who approached her, to greet her.
"I'm good, aunty. What about you?" Justin asked her.
"I'm good too; how is school going?" Lucy asked him before caressing his hair.
"School is fine," Justin said to him.
"I'm happy to hear that," Lucy said to him before patting him on the head, and with that, he started walking away, leaving Sarah and Lucy to discuss privately.
"How is your stay at home?" Lucy asked Sarah after Justin left.
"Very boring," Sarah said to Lucy, who chuckled at her reply.
"Well, you have already put up with it till the end of the week. To be sincere, I doubted that you would stay at home through out this whole week without coming to work, but to my greatest surprise, you did it, and on Sunday you are finally going to get married, and after your honeymoon, you can resume coming to work as usual," Lucy said to Sarah, and she sighed heavily.
"To be sincere, the only thing I want is to resume work again; if it were possible for me to cancel the honeymoon, I would have done it so that on Monday I can resume work," Sarah said to Lucy, and immediately she furrowed her brows at him.
"Really?" Lucy asked her.
"Yes, of course," Sarah said to Lucy in reply, and with that, Lucy leaned a little bit towards her and peered into her eyeballs.
"What?" Sarah asked her.
"Is everything okay between you and Charles?" Lucy asked her.
"Yes, of course; why do you ask?" Sarah asked her.
"Remember, I used to work in a hotel before I started working for you, and I have witnessed many couples coming to the hotel some days before their wedding to check if everything is in order for their wedding, which will take place in the hotel. From the look on their faces, the joyful facial expression, and their body language, you could already tell that the day in anticipation is going to be the happiest day for the couples, and they are waiting in anticipation for that day to arrive. But while looking at you, it's as if you are being forced into marriage, and if you had the chance to call off the marriage, you would have already done it," Lucy said to Sarah, and she sighed heavily.
"I guess you are right about everything. Since the beginning of this week, I have been having the strange feeling that I'm about to do something wrong; I'm not feeling the same way I felt when I was about to get married to Xavier," Sarah said to Lucy.
"Then call off the wedding; you still have enough time to do that," Lucy said to Sarah.
"I can't," Sarah said to her, and she furrowed her brows at her.
"Why can't you?" Lucy asked her.
"Because my reputation is at stake, what will people say about me when I call off the marriage for no valid reason? Everyone is going to see me as the devil, and you already know the impact that is going to have on my companies," Sarah said to Lucy.
"So, if I understand well, you are planning to sacrifice your happiness because of your companies. I hope you know that marriage is a one-time thing." Lucy asked Sarah.
"Well, to me, it's not; I have been inside before, and here I am outside of it. So if I get in once again and I don't find my happiness inside, I will gently come out, and that will be the last time I will enter inside," Sarah said to Lucy.
"Well, prevention is better than cure, my dear friend. If you aren't sure about this marriage, call it off before Sunday. Today is Friday, and you still have this night and tomorrow to do that. Think about it," Lucy said to Sarah, and she nodded in reply. At the same time, she received a notification on her phone that was beside her on the chair.
Taking the phone, she unlocked it to see the notification, but once she saw it, she widened her eyes in surprise. It was the video of Xavier and Charles fighting in front of Quim Corporation, and the video had already gone viral.
