Chapter 75: Collaborating With My Son
It was a Saturday morning in New York City, and Xavier was still sleeping peacefully on his bed, not minding the fact that it was almost nine a.m. Saturday being a weekend, he didn't need to bother himself; if it were other days, he would have probably been at work before nine a.m. unless he had something to take care of before heading to work.
As he was lying on the bed, the morning sun started penetrating through the transparent window, projecting directly onto his face.
Groaning tiredly, he tried getting up from the bed to go and close the window, and immediately he felt a little body lying beside him. With that, he turned around, only to see Justin lying beside him on the bed with his two eyes wide open.
"Good morning, Dad," Justin greeted him once he turned around.
"Yes, good morning, young man. Can I know what you are doing in my room?" Xavier asked him while scrubbing his hand on his face.
"Nothing," Justin said to him, and immediately Xavier furrowed his brows at him.
"What do you mean by nothing? Xavier asked him with a furrowed.
"Actually, I wanted to stay in your room for a little bit since I hardly came inside when Mom was around," Justin said to Xavier who looked at him for some seconds before lying down back on the bed.
"Please close the cotton of the window for me; the sun is projecting on my face," Xavier said to Justin while facing the ceiling, and with that, Justin stood up and went and closed the cotton of the window before returning to the bed and lying down beside Xavier, who was still facing the ceiling.
"Dad, do you miss Mom?" Justin asked Xavier, and immediately he turned around and looked at him.
"Which of your mothers?" Xavier asked him.
"My second Mummy," Justin said to him.
"Yes, I miss her, but not like the way I miss your first mom," Xavier said to him.
"Do you want me to talk to her for you?" Justin asked Xavier, and immediately he smiled at his question.
"Why are you smiling? Do you think that I can't talk to her?" Justin asked Xavier.
"No, of course; I was just wondering if she would listen to you, especially now that your uncle Charles had already proposed to her," Xavier said to Justin.
"I have told her that I don't like Uncle Charles, but she didn't listen to me. I will try talking to her again; if she doesn't listen to me this time around, I will tell her that I will start staying with you once she marries Uncle Charles," Justin said to Xavier, and immediately he smiled at him before caressing his hair.
"You can try talking to her, but you don't need to tell her that you will leave her if she marries Uncle Charles; remember, she's your mom," Xavier said to Justin.
"I know Dad, but I don't like Uncle Charles; if Mummy marries him, that means they will start living together, right?" Justin asked Xavier, and he nodded in reply.
"And I will be living with them too?" Justin asked Xavier, and he nodded in reply, and with that, he frowned deeply.
"I prefer to stay with you than with Mummy and Uncle Charles," Justin said to Xavier, and with that, Xavier smiled at him before patting him on the head.
"Don't worry, Charles and your mom aren't going to get married I promise you that, just as I said yesterday, I'm going to build our family back," Xavier said to him, and he nodded while smiling.
"But please don't tell your mom that I told you that she wasn't going to get married to Uncle Charles; I don't want her to think that I'm trying to ruin her marriage," Xavier said to Justin, and he nodded in reply.
"But can I tell her that you still love her and that she shouldn't get married to Uncle Charles?" Justin asked Xavier.
"Yeah, you can tell her about that," Xavier said to Justin.
"Okay, Dad, don't worry, I will make sure I don't mention your name while telling her about it," Justin said to Xavier, and immediately he smiled at him while wondering if he was really a kid of six years or not.
With the way he was expressing himself maturely, one would hardly believe that he was a six-year-old kid.
"Dad, are you going somewhere today?" Justin asked him, jolting him back to reality.
"No, why do you ask?" Xavier asked him.
"I wanted to ask you if you could take me to the central park since we aren't going anywhere today. My friends at school always talk about how their parents took them to the central park and how they had fun," Justin said to Xavier.
"Of course I can take you to the central park; if you had told me earlier, I would have surely made time to take you out," Xavier said to him.
"But you are usually busy, even Mom. I was planning to ask her yesterday, but you asked me to come and stay with you," Justin said to Xavier.
"You are right, Justin. I'm always busy, but that isn't a valid reason not to make out for you. I'm so sorry about that," Xavier said to Justin.
"It's okay, Dad, I'm not angry at you," Justin said to Xavier, and with that, Xavier smiled at him before patting him on the head.
As they were still lying on the bed, they heard a knock on the door.
"Who is that?" Xavier asked.
"It's me," one of the maids replied.
"Please, sir, is Justin in your room? We wanted to bathe him, but we didn't find him in his room," the maid said to Xavier.
"Yes, he's here; you can go and continue with what you are doing; I will bathe him myself," Xavier said to the maid.
"Okay, thank you, sir," the maid replied before walking away.
"Are you really going to bathe me?" Justin asked Xavier while smiling.
"Yes, of course, or do you think I can't bathe you?" Xavier asked him.
"I don't knownDad. Remember, you have never bathed me before, and I hope when you finish bathing me, I will be handsome like when Mum bathes me?" Justin asked Xavier with a squeezed face.
"Silly boy, this little mouth of yours is going to get you into trouble one day," Xavier said before poking his nose playfully.
