Chapter 54: Rejected By My Son
Once Sarah left Xavier's company, she entered and started driving back home. It was almost six p.m., and she had invited Charles to come over for dinner. If she had known that she was going to spend more than two hours in Xavier's office, she would have postponed the meeting to the following day.
Now she has to get back home as soon as possible in order to prepare Charles'arrival. Since it was the first time she was inviting Charles over, she wanted to be the one to cook the meal.
As Sarah was speeding back home, she suddenly saw the last thing she was expecting, which was a traffic jam.
"Damnit," Sarah muttered to herself once she saw the number of cars aligned on the road due to the traffic jam.
"Sighing heavily," Sarah took her phone and placed a call across to her uncle, who picked up after some seconds of ringing.
"Hey, Sarah, how are you?" How did Uncle ask her? From the background, she could hear the voice of Justin laughing at the top of his voice.
"I'm fine, Dad; I can tell that Justin is very happy," Sarah said to him.
"Yes, dear, this toddler of yours isn't getting tired anytime soon, and neither am I," Richard said to Sarah over the phone.
"I'm happy to hear that, Dad, but please give me some break," Sarah said to him.
"Of course I will, but the main issue here is that he's the one who is supposed to give me a break," Richard said to Sarah.
"No problem, Dad; both of you should give yourselves a break. By the way, I want you to help me with something," Sarah said to him.
"OK, what can I help you with?" Richard asked her.
"Actually, I invited Charles over for dinner by seven p.m., but actually, I'm stuck in a traffic jam," Sarah said to him.
"Well, it's almost thirty minutes to seven pm. What are you planning to do now?" Her uncle asked her.
"Actually, I was planning to be the one to cook the meal, but it seems like I wouldn't be able to do that again...
"And you want me to help you and cook the meal, right?" Richard asked Sarah, knowing that was what she wanted to ask for.
"Yes, Dad, I want you to help me and cook the meal," Sarah said to him.
"OK, no problem, dear, but don't forget that this is the second time I'm cooking for you today; I might end up charging you for it," Richard said to Sarah.
"No problem, Dad; you are free to charge me once I'm back, but as for now, just help me and cook a delicious meal," Sarah said to him.
"OK, dear, I will be hanging up; I have to get to work. Time is going," Richard said to him.
"Ok, Dad, see you soon," Sarah said to him before hanging up.
Once she hung up, she noticed that the car in front of her wasn't moving while the other car had started moving.
"What the heck, is the driver sleeping or what?" Sarah muttered angrily before horning at the car, and immediately the car started moving, but after some minutes it stopped again.
"Damnit," Sarah muttered before switching off the car and leaning back on the chair.
As she leaned back while listening to the music that was playing on the radio, the memories of the event that took place in Xavier's office came back playing in her head. Why was he having such an effect on her? Normally, she was supposed to be disgusted by his touch, but why was her heart betraying her in situations like this one? And now he is asking to be her personal assistant when he finally buys his company. It's not as if she can't reject his clauses and go for another company, but taking over Xavier's company was among her plans, and she can't abandon it now that she's almost some steps away just because she will be seeing him every day. But now the main question is, with the effect she is having on him recently, will she be able to execute her revenge plans on him or will his presence be a cause of distraction for her?"
"As these thoughts were running through her mind, the car behind her horned at her, jolting her back to reality. Looking ahead, she noticed that the car in front of her had already zoomed off, and without hesitating, she too ignited and zoomed off, and happily, the traffic jam slowly reduced, and in less than ten minutes, she was back home.
Once she parked her car and got inside, Justin ran towards her and hugged her tightly.
"Good evening, Mum, welcome back," Justin greeted her while hugging her.
"Thank you so much, my baby boy. How was your day?" Sarah asked him.
"It was fine, Mom; what about yours?" Justin asked him.
"It was fine too," Sarah said to him before raising her head and seeing Charles, who was sitting before the dining table with her uncle.
"Good evening, sweetheart," Sarah greeted Charles before kissing him on the cheek.
"Sorry for the late arrival; I was caught up in the traffic jam," Sarah said to him.
"No problem, I understand," Charles said to her.
"Good evening, Dad. How was your day?" Sarah asked her uncle before kissing him on the cheeks, too.
"My day was perfect, all thanks to your toddler," Richard said to him before looking at Justin, who hadn't returned to the dining table, and with that, Sarah looked at him, but from his facial expression, she could already tell that he wasn't happy about something. Tracing where his gaze was, she immediately realized that it was probably because she kissed Charles after kissing him.
Sighing heavily, she walked to where Justin was standing and squatted down before him.
"Sorry for not introducing him earlier; this is..."
"I don't like him," Justin said to Sarah while glaring angrily at Charles.
"What?" Sarah asked him with a surprised tone.
"I don't like him; he's not Daddy," Justin said to Sarah before running to his room.
"Come on, this isn't happening," Sarah muttered dejectedly before chasing him from behind.
To be continued...
