Chapter 84: Risky Idea
It was a Sunday morning, the following day after Xavier took Justin to the central park, where he met Sarah and Charles.
Since Justin wasn't around, it was only him alone in the big mansion with some of the maids.
After eating his breakfast, he took his computer and started working on some files from his company. Normally, these were the files he was supposed to work on the following day, which is Monday, but since he had nothing doing, he decided to do it immediately in order to kill his boredom.
As he was still working on it, he heard a knock on the door.
"Come in, please," he said, already knowing who was knocking, and with that, the door burst open, and Ben walked in while holding some documents.
"Good morning, sir," Ben greeted him once he came in.
"Yes, good morning, Ben. How are you?" Xavier asked him.
"I'm good, sir; here are the documents you asked me to bring," Ben said to him before handing him the documents.
"Thank you so much. I know I shouldn't have disturbed you today, which is Sunday, but right now I'm not doing anything. That's why I asked you to bring the documents so that I can look into it immediately," Xavier explained to him.
"No problem, sir; actually, I wasn't doing anything either. I was planning to take my wife and kids out, but that would be in the afternoon," Ben said to Xavier before sitting down on the sofa opposite, and with that, Xavier nodded in reply.
"By the way, sir, when are you finally going to present yourself to the shareholders as the CEO of the company? Some of them are already complaining about not knowing who is the CEO of the company," Ben said to Xavier.
"For the meantime, I'm not ready to present myself to anyone, and I'm not sure that I will be doing that anytime soon; I still have many things to take care of before doing that. So as usual, you will be representing me as my personal assistant, and if any of the shareholders isn't okay with that, then get him out of the company. I'm not going to allow any shareholder to influence the decision I take for the company; that's one of the things that caused the downfall of Quim Corporation; happily, it's in the hands of the person I want it to be," Xavier said to Ben.
"No problem; I will tell the shareholders about it. By the way, I heard that Sarah's marriage with Charles is for next month," Ben said to Xavier, and with that, he sighed heavily before standing up and walking to one of the cupboards in the sitting room and bringing out a bottle of whiskey and two glasses.
"I heard about it too," Xavier said to him before filling the two cups and returning and handling one for Ben.
"Thank you, sir," Ben said to him after collecting the drink from him and taking a sip.
"Don't mention it, please. You still haven't found out anything about him?" Xavier asked Ben before sitting down and taking a sip of his drink as well.
"No, sir, he's too secretive; it seems like he's aware that you are trying to get informations about him," Ben said to Xavier before taking a sip of his drink.
"Well, he's aware of that; I have told him on many occasions that I'm soon going to find out what he's hiding," Xavier said to Ben.
"Well, that's another reason for him to be very careful; even if you run a background check on him, you won't find out anything except for what everyone knows. I don't know how he's doing it; probably he has someone backing him up," Ben said to Xavier.
"Well, it's possible, but how can we find out who the person is if we can't even find a single piece of information about him?" Xavier asked Ben before gulping down all the recipients in the glass he was holding.
"Well, I came up with an idea of how to find out what he's hiding, but I'm not sure you would like it," Ben said to Xavier.
"To be sincere, I'm not going to like it; you only use that expression whenever you are planning to do something stupid," Xavier said to Ben, and immediately he smiled before gulping down the remaining recipient in his glass.
"Well, you are right; I'm very sure that you aren't going to like it, but you should at least hear it out. Mind you, the wedding is in a month; from tomorrow on, we won't talk about a month again; it would be three weeks and some days, so we are slowly running out of time," Ben said to Xavier, and immediately he ruffled his hair in frustration before sighing heavily.
"Go on and tell me about the idea; it might not be that bad after all," Xavier said to Ben, and with that, he looked around, stood up, and approached Xavier.
"What are you doing?" Xavier asked him with furrowed brows.
"Checking if someone isn't eavesdropping; mind you, even the walls have ears, and usually the enemy is within, so it's essential to be on guard every time," Ben said to Xavier.
"Well, I agree with you on that, but aside from me, there's no one else here aside from the maids," Xavier said to him.
"I'm aware of that, and just as I said earlier, enemies are usually in between; I'm going to whisper the idea to you if that's okay with you," Ben said to Xavier.
"Well, no problem if that's what you want," Xavier said to Ben, and with that, he lowered his head and started whispering the idea to him in his ear.
"Well, it's a good idea, but it's very risky. What about if you get caught? I can't be able to help you out because of my current image," Xavier said to Ben after he whispered the idea to him.
"You are right, it's very risky, but we don't have any choice for now," Ben said to Xavier, and he sighed.
"Well, we will give it a try, but you aren't going alone; I'm coming along with you," Xavier said to him.
"No problem, sir; it will be like in the old days," Ben said to him excitedly.
To be continued.
