Chapter 109: Don't Get Me Involved
"I hope you have learned a lesson from this; next time you might do well to listen to me," Adrian said to Charles while untying him.

After untying Charles from the steel chair where he was tied, Adrian removed his jacket and wore it on Charles who was shivering due to the effect of the water that was poured on him and also the waves of shock of electricity that were sent to his body through the device the men used in electrocuting him, not minding the high tension.
Supporting him with one of his shoulders, Adrian started heading to the exit with him, but suddenly the old man came out with his men and blocked their path.
"What?" Adrian asked him with a deep frown.
"I heard you killed two of my men," the old man said to him.
"Yes, I did, and if I remember well, I told you to tell your men to stay off my way," Adrian said to the old man, and immediately his men glanced at each other, wondering where Adrian found the courage to talk to the old man the way he was doing, and surprisedly, the old man only grinned at him.
"Well, I will allow that to slide, but before taking your leave, I want to have some words with your friend," the old man said to him.
"Again? I don't think that will be possible," Adrian said to him, causing the old man's men to glance at each other once again.
"I said I want to have some words with him," the old man said to Adrian with a calm and intimidating tone while approaching him.
"Fine," Adrian said to the old man who approached Charles, held his jaws, and pulled his head up.
"I hope you have learned your lesson?" The old man asked Charles, who was still shivering while holding on to Adrian, who was supporting him.
"Answer me," the old man growled angrily at Charles, who was staring at him without giving him a reply.
"Yes, I have learned my lesson," Charles said to him with trembling lips, and with that, the old man smirked at him.
"So next time, what aren't you supposed to do?" The old man asked him.
"I'm not supposed to forget my mission," Charles said to him with trembling lips.
"Perfect. I'm sure that from now on, you will never forget that," the old man said to him before turning his gaze to Adrian, who was glaring daggers at him.
"Take him home so that he can get some sleep and also prepare for his wedding, which is presently a day ahead," the old man said to Adrian, who glared angrily at him before walking away with Charles.
"As for the rest of you, anyone that gives me a hard time will also go through the same thing he went through," the old man said to his men before walking towards his room.
Once Adrian came out with Charles, he helped him get into the car, and with that, he too entered and drove out of the mansion before zooming off.
As Adrian was driving the car, he took a look at Charles, who was still trembling, and with that, he shook his head in disbelief.
"Thank you," Charles said to him after some minutes of silence.
"For what?" Adrian asked him.
"For standing in for me," Charles said to Adrian, who smiled before shaking his head in pity.
"You don't need to thank me for that; it's no big deal after all," Adrian said to him while concentrating on the steering.
"I hope that you have really learned your lesson and that from now on you will stay away from Xavier and concentrate on Sarah," Adrian said to Charles, and immediately he chuckled wickedly like a psychopath.
"I'm not staying away from Xavier until he's dead; as long as he's alive, I'm not going to have peace of mind," Charles said to Adrian, and immediately he scoffed at him.
"You really don't learn, do you?" Maybe I should have left the old man and his men do whatever they wanted to do with you; maybe by then you will come back to your senses," Adrian said to him with an angry tone.
"Well, it wouldn't have made any difference; after all, I was enjoying the torture," Charles said to Adrian with a failing tone, and with that, Adrian huffed at him.
"Well, sorry for risking my life to save your ass; if you want, I can even drive you back so that the old man can continue with the torture," Adrian said to Charles, but he remained silent while clutching himself to the jacket he was putting on.
"And please, next time, before making any of your stupid moves, make sure to tell the old man that you didn't inform me about it so that I won't end up suffering because of you, and one last thing, if you are planning to go after Xavier, please don't get me involved and don't also expect me to come to your aid just as I did today because I won't even if I hear that you are dying," Adrian said to Charles.
"Well, it's not as if I needed your help in the first place, and I also didn't ask you to save me, so please stop talking as if you did a huge favor for me," Charles said Adrian, and at the same time, he pulled over before his mansion.
Without uttering a word to him, Charles opened the door, got down, and started walking to the entrance of his mansion while clutching on to the jacket he was putting on.
Meanwhile, Adrian kept on staring at him until the security guard opened the gate for him and he walked in, and with that, Adrian sighed heavily before igniting his car and zooming off.
Once Adrian got in, he took his phone and placed a call across to the men who he had sent to search Xavier's house. He had deliberately hidden the truth behind the reason why he attacked Xavier from Adrian and the old man, knowing that the old man would kill him himself if he heard that someone had his audio recordings of him discussing the plans with Adrian.
After some minutes of ringing, the person finally picked up the call.
"Hello, boss, good morning," the person greeted him.
"Yes, any news?" Charles asked him.
"Nothing, sir; we didn't find anything in the building, and some of our men were even arrested in the process. Xavier returned some minutes later with some policemen," the man said to Charles.
"What the hell? Damnit!!" Charles yelled angrily once he heard the news, and without thinking twice, he threw his phone at the wall, smashing the screen in the process.
To be continued...
