Chapter 24: I Want You
It was five p.m., and Charles had just returned to his company. Once he opened the door of his office and walked in, he saw someone sitting on his chair, his two legs placed on his desk, and his phone on his ear.
Once Charles walked in, the person widened his eyes in surprise before dashing up from the chair, and in the process, he fell down, shattering the screen of his phone. Meanwhile, Charles stood where he was, staring at him as he struggled to get back on his feet.
"Welcome back, man. You should have at least knocked before getting in. Now look at what happened to my phone," the person said to him while examining the screen of his phone that had already shattered.
"Adrian, how many times have I told you to stop sitting on my chair while I'm out?" Charles asked him in a menacing way while approaching him.
"I'm sorry, man. I didn't know that you would be coming back any time soon," Adrian said to him.
"Whatever, just get off my road," Charles said to him before pushing him off the road and taking his seat.
"Aren't you going to console me because of my broken phone?" Adrian asked him before sitting down on the chair opposite him.
"In your dreams," Charles said to him before rolling his eyes at him and bringing out his phone from his pocket.
"How was the meeting?" Charles asked him with his gaze still fixed on his phone, but Adrian remained silent while staring at him.
After some minutes of silence, Charles raised his head and looked at Adrian, who was staring at him silently.
"Tell me you didn't hear what I asked you," Charles said to him with an angry tone.
"I thought you were talking to your phone." Adrian said to him sarcastically, and immediately Charles glared at him angrily.
"The meeting was fine; I represented you as usual," Adrian said to him.
"Thanks a lot," Charles said to him.
"Don't mention it. By the way, were you able to solve the problem?" Adrian asked him.
"Yes, of course, someone reported to the cops about the ships; happily, some of the cops who works for the old man heard about it and informed him about it. I had to be there to assure that the goods reached the warehouse safely," Charles said to Adrian, who nodded in agreement.
"That was really a close call; the old man would have lifted hell if something had happened to his goods," Adrian said to Charles, and immediately his phone started ringing.
"Silence, bro, the old is calling," Charles said to Adrian after checking the caller ID. With that, he picked up the call and discussed it with the caller for some minutes before hanging up.
Once he hanged up, he placed a call through Sarah, and after discussing with her for some minutes, he hanged up before sighing heavily.
"What's the issue again?" Adrian asked him.
"Nothing, bro; I almost forgot that I have an appointment with the old man's second victim to be," Charles said to Adrian.
"When is the appointment?" Adrian asked Charles, who had already stood up from his chair.
"It's by seven p.m., but I have to be there before seven p.m.; you know how hard it is to impress ladies, especially rich ones," Charles said to Adrian before opening the drawer of his desk and bringing out his perfume and spraying it all over his body. After spraying the perfume all over his body, he took his car keys and turned towards Adrian, who was staring at him silently.
"Who is even this new lady that you are putting all these efforts into winning over? I thought you were the lover boy," Adrian said to Charles.
"Well, my charm has no effect on her, so I have to switch to another technique. Wish me luck," Charles said to him before heading to the exit.
"Good luck," Adrian said to him as he was walking away.
The ride to the restaurant only lasted twenty minutes. Once he got to the restaurant, he checked the time and realized that it was already some minutes to seven p.m. Sighing heavily, he walked into the restaurant and sat down in one of the empty chairs. Just after he sat down, Sarah too walked into the restaurant, and immediately he waved at her so that she could see where he was sitting. With that, she walked to where he was and sat down on the chair opposite him.
"Good evening, Mr. Charles," Sarah greeted him after sitting down opposite him.
"Good evening, Mrs. Sarah. How was your day?" Charles asked her.
"It was good, and yours?" She asked him in return.
"It was good too," Sarah replied, and at the same time, the waitress approached them, and they both ordered their different meals, which were served in no time.
"Thank you for honoring the invitation," Charles said to Sarah as they were both eating their meals.
"Sorry to say this, I didn't honor your invitation; we had an agreement, and I'm only respecting my own part of the agreement," Sarah said to him frankly, and he nodded in reply.
"If you have anything to say, you better say it now because once we are done eating, I will take my leave, and you won't have any other choice than to fulfill your own part of the agreement by becoming my business partner," Sarah said to him while eating her noodles.
"I must admit that you are really smart; maybe I should have thought about another thing that could have given me more time to discuss with you," Charles said to her.
"But unfortunately, you didn't. So what is it that you want?" I'm listening," Sarah said to him.
"Well, you already know what I want, but for some reason unknown to me, you prefer to play the hard lady with me," Charles said to Sarah, who was still eating her noodles.
"And what is it that you want because I have no idea what you want?" Sarah said to him.
"I want you, Sarah," Charles said to her, and immediately she choked on her food.
