Chapter 114: Saving Her Again
Meanwhile, it's been over two hours since the guests have been waiting for the groom and the bride to walk in so that the ceremony would commence, but there was no sign of them.
The choir, on the other hand, had taken a break, unable to continue singing in order to entertain the guests.
Murmurs could be heard from every angle of the church as the guests, already tired of waiting, started complaining about the incompetence of the groom and the bride.
Even though they didn't say whatever they were saying among each other aloud, their anger and disappointment could clearly be seen on their faces. It wasn't as if they couldn't take their leave, but everyone was curious, wanting to know how everything was going to end.
Probably they have heard about brides abandoning their grooms on their marriage day, but the groom abandoning his bride on the marriage day was something that rarely happens, but right now it was about to happen, and it wasn't just about to happen to any ordinary person but to Sarah Jones, one of the richest billionaires in New York City, and this wasn't a scene one would afford to miss.
Meanwhile, Xavier sat at a corner in the church, his facial expression calm as if nothing was happening.
Well, he had nothing to be bothered about after all he had already known that something like this was going to happen, but what he wasn't expecting was for Charles to be absent on the wedding day.
It's true that he had hurt Sarah in the past, but what Charles was about to do was going to be worse than what he did, because not only is he going to ruin her image, but he's also going to ruin the image of her companies, and people are going to start making up every sort of story about her.
Well, that's how it has always been. As long as the partner who abandoned the other on the wedding day doesn't show up to explain the reasons why he or she didn't show up or abandoned their to-be partner on the wedding day, people are going to start cooking up their own stories, especially this hungry reporters, and some might even claim that she has a bad character or something like that or that she's a two-face sword, and that is the reason why her first husband abandoned her, and when stories like this start spreading, she and her companies are going to suffer terribly because of it.
Thinking about this, Xavier shook his head in disbelief. Now he has to find one way or another to save her ass, just as he had the habit of doing, even though she never appreciates it and always views him as a bad person.
Taking his phone, Xavier sent a message to Ben, who was also in the church, asking him to meet him outside, and with that, Xavier stood up and started heading outside.
Some minutes later, Ben also joined him outside.
"Sir, what is going on? It seems like Charles isn't going to show up," Ben said to Xavier.
"Yeah, it seems so, but come to think of it, would you have shown up if you were at his place?" Charles asked Ben.
"I don't think so; probably he was thinking that you were going to play the audio recording during the marriage ceremony," Ben said to Xavier.
"Yeah, that was probably what he thought," Xavier said to Ben before shaking his head in disbelief.
"So, what are we going to do?" Ben asked Xavier.
"Well, change of plan," Xavier said to Ben.
"Huh?" Ben said to him, not understanding what he meant by that.
"Well, since Charles had decided not to show up, we can't proceed with the initial plan; now the main plan is to save Sarah's ass as usual," Xavier said to Ben, and immediately he furrowed his brows at him.
"But how? Or are you planning to convince her to get married to you instead?" Ben asked Xavier
"No of course, as far as I know Sarah, she will never agree to that, and she might end up accusing me of being the reason why Charles didn't show up," Xavier said to Ben.
"Well, that was exactly what I wanted to tell you. So what's the plan?" Ben asked Xavier
"Well, since Charles isn't going to show up, that means no wedding, and we can no longer wait for the wedding to take place before exposing Charles, so we have to do it right away," Xavier said to Ben.
Actually, his initial plan was to expose Charles before the wedding, but he later changed his mind and decided to wait after the wedding in order to punish Sarah a little bit for her ignorance and for trusting someone she wasn't supposed to be trusting.
"But what difference is that going to make?" Ben asked Xavier with furrowed brows.
"By so doing, we will be saving Sarah's reputation and ruining Charles's instead; vice versa," Xavier said to Ben.
"Well, that's a good idea. Unfortunately, you are forgetting something," Ben said to Xavier.
"What is it?" Xavier asked him.
"We didn't plan any of these in advance, so how am I going to play the audio? You don't expect me to walk in there and announce to everyone that I have an audio recording about Charles that I want to play for them," Ben said to Xavier.
"I'm absolutely aware of that, and that's why I want you to hack the TV the same way you hacked the cameras of Zenith Express," Xavier said to Ben before leaning towards him and whispering the last part in a low tone, and with that, Ben glared angrily at him.
"How am I going to do that? I don't even have a computer with me," Ben said to him.
"I have one in my car," Xavier said to him.
"Well, it's going to take me hours; the guests would have already left before I'm done," Ben said to him.
"And that's why I want you to do it in less than an hour; I'm counting on you. I will try speaking with the priest, and since we know each other, I will tell him to plead with the audience to have a little patience," Xavier said to Ben before handing him his car keys and telling him the password. Before Ben would even try to protest, Xavier had already left.
"Damnit," Ben muttered in disbelief.
