Chapter 101: Attacked

It has been a long and hectic day for Xavier; he has been busy throughout the whole day doing both his work and that of Sarah, who has been absent for some days because of her wedding that was some days ahead. After finishing his daily activities as usual, Xavier arranged the documents on his desk in the shelf, and afterwards he arranged some documents he wanted to work on at home inside his briefcase with some of his belongings that were on his desk. With that, he took his briefcase, walked out of his office, and started heading to the garage. Once he got to the garage, he unlocked his car and entered inside, and without waiting, he ignited it and started driving out of the company. Once he drove out of the company, a car suddenly halted before him, and fortunately, he was fast enough to step on brake pads; if not, he would have surely hit the car. Once the car halted in front of him, Charles came down from the car while fuming in anger. Without hesitating, Xavier switched off the car and got down in order to know what was wrong with him and why he suddenly halted like that in front of him. "Hey man, what's wrong with you? Were you sleeping while driving?" Xavier asked Charles while walking towards him, and at the same time, Charles rushed towards Xavier, landing a punch on Xavier's face, causing him to stagger back. "How dare you place an audio recording device in my office?" Charles thundered angrily at Xavier before dashing towards him once.  Pushing Xavier to the ground, he climbed on him and tried punching him again, but Xavier blocked his hand before it could reach his face, and without hesitating, he turned him around, landing a clean punch on Charles's face and at the same time bursting his lips. As Xavier was about to punch him, the security guards from the company blocked him, pulling him away from Charles while other security guards rushed towards Charles and held him, not giving him the opportunity to attack Xavier again. "Let go of me; let me teach this fool a lesson. How dare you invade my privacy?" Charles asked Xavier with gritted teeth while trying to free himself from the grips of the security guards. "Let go off him; let him show me what he got; if he thinks that he's a mad dog, then I will tame you," Xavier thundered angrily at Charles in reply. "I swear through God, Xavier Quim, I'm going to make you pay for this. Don't think that you have won; I will surely make you pay for what you did to me," Charles said to Xavier, who smirked at him, seeing the number of people who were busy videoing the scene. If it was before, he would have been worried, knowing that these videos the people were taking were surely going to ruin his image once they're posted online, and in addition to that, they were in front of the company, making the issue more serious. Once the security guards pulled Xavier away, they led him to his car before freeing him. Without uttering a single word, he glared angrily at Charles, who was still trying to break free from the guards who were holding him.  Getting into his car, he ignited it and reversed a little bit in order to get some space to drive away without hitting Charles car that was parked before him. Once he noticed that the space was enough, he drove off without even looking back. "Fool," Xavier cursed inwardly when he saw his bursted lips through the central mirror. "This is just the beginning all your downfall Charles, when I'm done with you, you will understand that you made a terrible mistake by messing with me, and it's also not everyone you can take advantage of," Xavier muttered angrily to himself while driving his car, and at the same time, his phone started ringing. Shifting a little bit, he pulled out the phone from his pocket before checking the caller ID, which was Ben.  Switching on the radio in his car, he connected his phone to the car's Bluetooth before picking it up. "Hey Ben, how are you?" Xavier asked him. "I'm good, sir. I heard that Charles attacked you." Ben said to Xavier:  "Yeah, he did; it seems like he has finally found the device," Xavier said to Ben. "Well, that's interesting; he found it at the right moment. But why did he attack you? I hope you didn't tell him that you were the one who placed the device in his office." Ben asked Xavier. "No, I didn't, and I'm still wondering how he managed to find the device," Xavier said to Ben. "Probably he was looking for something under the desk and saw it," Ben said to Xavier. "Well, I don't care how he found it; I have gotten what I want, and now the next step is using the information I collected against him at the right time. So have you gotten any info on the old man?" Xavier asked him. "Not yet. I'm not even sure that there's someone answering such a name; probably they were the ones who came up with it," Ben said to Xavier. "Okay, but keep on searching; you will probably find a clue that will help us find out who he is. Charles isn't the main problem here, but the main problem is the person they call the old man. As long as we haven't found him, then we still have a long way to go," Xavier said to Ben. "No problem, boss. By the way, where are you sleeping tonight?" Ben asked him. "At home, of course," Xavier said to him. "To be sincere, I don't think that's a good idea; they already know that you know their real identity, and they are going to do everything in their power to stop you from saying a word, so I will advise you to sleep somewhere else and also dismiss the maids tonight till further notice," Ben said to Xavier. "Thanks for the idea; I never thought of that. I'm going to do that right away. Have a nice evening and also be careful in case of any uncertainties," Xavier said to Ben. "No problem, boss; have a nice evening," Ben said to Xavier before hanging up. Once the call ended, Xavier immediately placed a call across the maids working in his house. To be continued...
