Chapter 120: Unexpected Turn Of Events
"Were you the one that posted the audio recording at the church today?" Sarah asked him while peering into his eyeballs.
"What if I say yes?" Xavier asked her.
"The audio recording was fake, right?" Sarah asked him.
"What?" Xavier asked her with furrowed brows.

"Yes, you heard me right; the audio recording was fake, right?" Sarah asked him once again, and with that, Xavier scoffed at her.
"Well, I don't know," Xavier said to her grumpily.
"What do you mean by you don't know, weren't you the one that posted the audio recording?" Sarah asked Xavier with an angry tone.
"And what makes you think that I was the one who posted who posted it?" Xavier asked Sarah, causing her to frown deeply.
"Is this some kind of joke? It hasn't even been up to five minutes since you agreed that you were the one that posted the audio, and now you are already pretending as if you didn't agree to it," Sarah said to Xavier, her voice raising in anger, and with that, Xavier furrowed his brows at her.
"Probably you misunderstood my reply when you asked me if I were the one who posted the audio recording. I never said yes; instead, I asked you what about if I said yes," Xavier said, earning himself an icy glare.
"Why don't you just agree that you did it and that the audio recording was fake? You only posted it in order to prevent Charles and I from getting married. After all, it's only the both of us here, and you don't need to lie to me," Sarah said to Xavier, who smiled sarcastically before shaking his head in disbelief.
"Let me ask you this, Sarah, if really I was the one that posted the audio recording and the reason why I posted it was to prevent your beloved Charles from getting married just as you stated, then why did he leave New York City even before the audio was posted?" Xavier asked Sarah.
"And how did you know that Charles had left New York City?" Sarah asked him with furrowed brows.
"And what do you take me for? Do I look like someone who can't get information if he needs it?" Xavier asked Sarah.
"Well, I don't, and for your first question, who knows, maybe after fabricating the fake audio, you sent it to Charles and threatened to post it if he doesn't leave on the wedding day, and even though he left, you still went on and posted it," Sarah said to Xavier, and immediately he burst into a round of laughter.
"Are you even listening to yourself?" Xavier asked her after laughing to his satisfaction.
"You mean your husband to be left you on your wedding day and ran to another country because someone threatened to post a fake audio recording of him planning to defraud his wife to be. Tell me, why did he run away if he was innocent?" Xavier asked her, his eyes boring into her with an icy glare, but Sarah remained silent, not knowing what to say to him.
"What's the issue, cat got your tongue?" Xavier asked her when she didn't give him a reply.
"Well, I know what's the issue with you; you are still finding it hard to believe that you were you left on your wedding day, the same wedding I warned you about; you are also finding it hard to believe that everything I told you and your dad about Charles was true; he wasn't who you guys thought he was. Well, allow me to tell you this: your beloved husband to be wasn't only a crook but also a coward," Xavier said to Sarah.
"Well, he's a coward just like you; after all, there's no difference between what he did and what you did six years ago, or is there any difference?" Sarah asked him with a sarcastic smile hovering over her face.
"Well, there's a difference," Sarah continued.
"The difference is that he didn't succeed in doing what he wanted to do just like you did," Sarah said to Xavier, her voice filled with hatred.
"Yes, Sarah, I admit that I hurt six years ago, but don't you think you are exaggerating with this grudge of yours? It's been six years for crying out loud, but each time you keep on reminding me that for me, and what surprises me is that you are ready to go to any stage just to make me regret hurting you six years; you are even ready to get married to someone who you know nothing about," Xavier said to Sarah, and immediately she furrowed her brows at him.
"Yes, Sarah, I knew that you never loved Charles in the first place; you wanted to get married to him just to hurt me, and as usual, you didn't even think about the consequences of your actions, and me, on the other hand, out of guilt, had to sacrifice my ass just to save your ass.
If you aren't ready to forgive me, no problem, but please stop getting yourself into problems you don't even know the way out all in the name of hurting me, because you will only end up hurting yourself," Xavier said to her.
"So you were the one who recorded the conversation just in order to stop me from getting married to Charles because you knew that he didn't want to get married to me for a good cause?" Sarah asked Xavier.
"Yes, I was the one, and I was also the one who posted it just to preserve your reputation, even though you were the one who ruined mine. Now are you happy?" Xavier asked Sarah, and immediately she smiled at him.
"Yes, of course; after all, I have gotten what I wanted," Sarah said to him before standing up.
"And what is it that you wanted?" Xavier asked her with furrowed brows.
"You will soon understand," Sarah said to him and started walking to the exit, but Xavier, seeing the phone in her hand, immediately understood what she meant, and without hesitating, he ran after her, grabbing her hand, turning her around, and snatching her phone away from her.
"Nice try; you were recording the conversation, weren't you?" Xavier asked her before looking at the phone, and just as expected, she was recording; without hesitating, he deleted it even before she could realize it.
"Give me back my phone," Sarah said to Xavier while trying to wrestle to take the phone from him, but Xavier, on the other hand, being taller than her, raised the hand he was using to hold the phone up, preventing her from reaching it.
As she was still struggling to take it, Xavier suddenly slipped, and while falling on the couch that was behind, Xavier held her, causing her to fall on his chest.
Once She landed on his chest, their gazes locked with each other; at that very moment, it seemed as if time stopped moving.
As she was lying on him, Xavier could already hear the sound of her heart pounding heavily in his chest.
"Lowering his gaze to her pink and inviting lips, Xavier smiled inwardly.
"Well, since you are now single just as me, do you mind paying me for saving you with a kiss?" Xavier asked her, trying out his luck once again, but to his greatest surprise, she didn't give him a reply; instead, her cheeks suddenly turned red.
With his heart pounding heavily, Xavier slowly lifted his head, claiming her lips in a passionate kiss that only lasted for some seconds before he pulled away, wanting to confirm that she consented with it, but once he pulled away, she immediately took over, ravaging his lips as if her life depended on it.
With the way they were both engaged in their passionate moment, one thing was sure: it was going to end only with a kiss.
To be continued.
