Chapter 76: You Have Nothing To Worry About
Richard was sitting on the dining table, enjoying his breakfast, while at the same time reading the news on his phone.
Suddenly he started hearing footsteps of someone coming down from the stairs. Looking up, he noticed that it was Sarah, and with that, he furrowed his brows in surprise, knowing that on Saturdays, Sarah rarely wakes up early in the morning; if she wakes up earlier, it's around twelve PM; if not, she's capable of sleeping till two PM; and sometimes he's the one who wakes her up in order to be sure that something didn't happen to her while she was sleeping.
"Good morning, Dad. Can I know why you are looking at me like someone who has seen a ghost?" Sarah asked him, jolting him back to reality.
"Good morning, Sarah. Actually, I was surprised by the fact that you woke up earlier today, which is Saturday, or did you forget that today is Saturday?" Richard asked Sarah, who had already taken her seat next to him.
"Of course, I'm well aware that today is Saturday," Sarah said to Richard before taking one of the spoons on the dining table and scooping his food, and immediately he frowned at her.
"Cynthia," Richard called out to one of the maids, and immediately she quickly came out of the kitchen and walked to the dining table.
"Good morning, ma'am," she greeted Sarah, who was still munching the food in her mouth.
"Good morning, Cynthia, how are you?" Sarah asked her after swallowing the food in her mouth.
"I'm fine, ma'am," the maid said to her in reply while avoiding her gaze.
"Cynthia, please get Sarah her own breakfast before she finishes mine. I thought she would wake up by dawn as usual; that's why I asked you to prepare only mine," Richard said to the maid.
"Okay, sir, I will get it right away." The maid said to Richard before walking away, and at the same time, Sarah scooped Richard's food once, and immediately he rolled his eyes at her.
"Come on, Dad, I have never woken up by dawn before; it's usually in the afternoon, and that's because I used to be tired after working from Monday to Friday," Sarah said to him before scooping his food once again.
"And what happened today? Weren't you tired as usual?" Richard asked her before scooping a little amount of food into his mouth.
"Of course I was tired; who wouldn't be tired after walking from Monday to Friday?" Sarah asked him before scooping his food again.
"Cynthia, aren't you yet done?" Richard asked the maid while raising his voice so that she could hear him.
"I'm almost done," she replied from the kitchen, and immediately he sighed heavily.
"Do you know what, Dad?" I will just eat everything; when the maid comes, you can eat the one that she's preparing," Sarah said to her uncle before carrying the whole food and eating it while ignoring her uncle's angry glare.
"So tell me, why did you wake up early this morning?" Richard asked Sarah after silently watching her eat for a few minutes.
"Remember I told you last night that Charles and I have decided to spend quality time together in order to get to know ourselves better? So we are going to spend the whole day together," Sarah said to Richard while munching the food in her mouth, and at the same time, the maid came out with two other maids and served the food.
"Cynthia, the food is really delicious; you are really doing a great job," Sarah said to the maid as she was about to walk away.
"I'm so happy to hear that, ma'am. Thanks so much," the maid said to Sarah.
"Don't mention it, please," Sarah said to her, and she bowed her head a little bit.
"I think you should increase her salary; she's really doing a good job," Sarah said to her uncle once the maid left.
"No problem; I will surely do that," Richard said to Sarah while eating his food.
"So Charles is coming over this morning," Richard asked Sarah while eating his food.
"Yes, he's coming over around twelve p.m.," Sarah said to him while eating her food.
"Where is he taking you?" Richard asked Sarah while eating his food.
"Well, we have many places in mind, like the central park, the beach, and many other places where we can have fun," Sarah said to him.
"Well, that's good; at least after spending some time with him, getting married to him will no longer seem like an arranged marriage, just as you said last night," Richard said to Sarah.
"Come on, Dad, among all the things I told you last night, was the contract marriage the only thing you heard?" Sarah asked him.
"Well, that's the only thing I remembered. By the way, don't you think you should go and get ready; it's already eleven AM, or is the queen of punctuality planning to be late for an event for the first time in her life?" Richard asked Sarah with a mockery tone.
"Never, Dad, being late isn't my thing," Sarah said to Richard before standing up and heading to the stairs.
"I will go and get ready before he arrives," Sarah said to Richard while climbing the stairs.
Some minutes after she left, Richard heard a knock on the door.
"Come in, please," he said from where he was sitting, and immediately the door busted open Charles walked in.
"Good morning, Mr. Richard. How are you doing?" Charles asked Richard.
"I'm good. What about you?" Richard asked him.
"I'm good too," Charles said to him in reply.
"Please have a seat," Richard said to Charles while pointing at the couch opposite him, and with that, he sat down.
"Sarah told me that you have programmed the marriage for next month," Richard said to Charles.
"Yes, sir, it's for next month," Charles said to him with a warm smile.
"I'm happy to hear that. The only thing I will tell you is not to hurt Sarah; you won't like to see the other side of me," Richard said to Charles.
"You have nothing to worry about, Mr. Richard; nothing will happen to your daughter under my watch; she is my gold, and I will protect her at all costs," Charles said to him with a determined tone, and with that, Richard nodded in reply.
To be continued.
