Chapter 47: Justin's Disappearance
"Sarah, are you sure that you want to buy Xavier's company?" Richard asked Sarah as they were having their breakfast.
"Come on, Dad, I thought we had talked about this last night; I have made up my mind; I'm buying the company," Sarah said to Richard while eating her meal.
"But you are having difficulties managing the two branches of Ethic Textiles; how are you planning to manage three companies at the same time?" Richard asked Sarah, who was busy eating her meal, while nodding her head at the rythme of the music playing through the airpod in her ear.
"Dad, I'm not planning to manage three companies at the same time; I'm planning to sell the company in England," Sarah said to her uncle, who widened his eyes in surprise immediately.
"What?" He asked Sarah with furrowed brows.
"Yes, Dad, I'm planning to sell the company and invest the money in Xavier's company, which is going to become mine," Sarah said to Richard, and immediately he sighed heavily, knowing that he had already given the company to her, so she has the right to make decisions like this one.
"But you were in a hurry to return to England, so what made you change your mind?" Richard asked Sarah, but she remained silent while munching her food and nodding to the rythme of her music. With that, Richard glared at her, and immediately she swallowed the food in her mouth before clearing her throat.
"But Dad, you know it's good to be talking when eating," Sarah said to her uncle with a deep frown.
"Young lady, I asked you a question, and I'm waiting for an answer," Richard said to her before scooping the food into her mouth.
"Actually, I'm getting Justin back soon, and when I do, I want to always be present for him. If I don't sell the company in England, that means I will be traveling every now and then, leaving him behind, and that's what I want to avoid. At least if I have two companies over here, I won't have to travel every now and then, probably once in a while, and I can even bring him along if it's not during his school period," Sarah explained to Richard, and he nodded.
"If I didn't flare up when you told me that you wanted to sell the company, it's because I knew that you had a good reason behind it, but what about the employees? What are you going to do about them after selling the company?" Richard asked her.
"Well, while selling the company, I will inform the buyer that he will have to recruit the former employees that were in the company after buying it. If he agrees, I will reduce at least fifteen percent of the selling price, but if he refuses, I will have to pay at least two months salary to each employee. I think they can be able to support themselves with that until they find another company that will employ them," Sarah said to Richard, who nodded in agreement.
"That's really a good idea; the employees will forever be grateful to you for that; not every employer can do that," Richard said to Sarah, who had already finished her meal and was cleaning her mouth.
"I know, Dad, but sometimes it's good to do good to people. I will be taking my leave now; I have a very long day ahead. I will first go to Xavier's company before going to mine," Sarah said to him before standing up and taking her handbag.
"Ok, my little girl, have a nice day," Richard said to Sarah, who was already heading towards the exit.
"Have a nice day too, and point of correction, I'm not a little girl," Sarah said to him before walking out of the house and heading to the garage, where she took her car and zoomed off.
It was a twenty-minute ride to Quim Corporation, and once Sarah got into the company, she informed the receptionist that she wanted to see their CEO. Without hesitating, she placed a call across to Xavier, informing him that Sarah Jones was looking for him.
Without hesitating, he asked the secretary to show her to his office, and with that, the secretary ended the call and led Sarah to Xavier's office.
Once she arrived in front of the office, she placed a soft knock on the door before returning to her post, leaving Sarah behind.
"Come in," Xavier ordered, knowing that it was Sarah.
With that, the door burst open, and Sarah walked in.
"Good morning, Mrs. Sarah; welcome to my office," Xavier said to her before standing up and extending his hand for a handshake.
"Good morning, Mr. Xavier. What you meant to say was welcome to your office, right?" Sarah asked him with a wicked smirk.
"Yeah, that was what I was supposed to say; please have a seat, please," Xavier said to her before pulling the chair back, and immediately Sarah sat down.
"Do you want me to offer you anything, something like juice or...
"No, don't worry about that; I don't drink with my enemies," Sarah said to him.
"Ooh, is that how you see me?" Xavier asked her while maintaining a smiling face.
"Well, we all have our own ways of seeing things; pardon me, but that's how I see you; can we go straight to business?" Sarah asked him in order to prevent further discussion.
"Yes, of course, here are the papers to sign," Xavier said to her before handing her some documents.
With that, Sarah took the documents and started going through them one after the other.
"As she was going through the documents, she saw a place where it was written that whoever bought it must employ Mr. Xavier Quim as one of the employees of the company, despite the fact that he had already sold it.
With that, Sarah raised her head and looked at him with furrowed brows.
"Is it a must that I must employ you?" Sarah asked him, and at the same time, Xavier's phone started ringing.
"Excuse me," Xavier said to her before taking the phone and checking the caller ID, which was the director of Justin's school.
"Good morning, sir. I hope this is Mr. Xavier." The director asked.
"Yes, it's me. I hope everything is okay." Xavier asked him.
"Actually, sir, Justin is missing," the director said to him.
"What!!" Did you just say that my son is missing?" Xavier's voice echoed through the phone, and Sarah immediately widened her eyes in surprise.
"I'm on my way right now," Xavier said to him before hanging up.
"Did I just hear that my son is missing?" Sarah asked Xavier with furrowed brows, and immediately he nodded in reply.
