Chapter 73: Rushing Things
"I want us to get married next month," Charles said to her.
"Already?" Sarah asked him with furrowed brows.
"Yes, of course," Charles said to her in reply.
"But don't you think it's too early? I mean, it hasn't even been up to a month since you proposed to me, and I don't even know many things about you, like what you like, what you don't like, what you do in your leisure time, and also who your parents are," Sarah said to him.
"Well, you are right about that and it's not totally my fault. We are both so occupied with our daily activities that we don't even make time for ourselves. If you want, we can choose some days in the week and spend them together in order to know ourselves better, or since tomorrow is Saturday, we can spend the day together," Charles said to her.
"Sounds good to me; we will be spending the weekend together then," Sarah said to him.
"So, where do we spend the weekend? Will you come over to my house?" Charles asked Sarah before taking a sip of her drink, and immediately she shook her head in disapproval.
"But why?" Charles asked her while feigning to be angry.
"Because I want us to do something fun and not sit down in one place watching movies and talking; that would be really boring," Sarah said to him.
"And who told you that we are only going to talk and watch movies?" Charles asked Sarah with furrowed brows.
"What else are we going to do aside from that?" Sarah asked him while munching on her food.
"What do couples do when they are alone at home?" Charles asked Sarah, and immediately she raised her head and looked at him before replying, "I don't know."
"Come on, Sarah, stop acting as if you don't know what I'm talking about," Charles said to Sarah, and immediately she dropped her spoon and looked at him directly into the eyeballs.
"I don't know what you are talking about, but if it's what I'm thinking, then you better forget it because I'm not coming to your house in the first place. If you can't wait after our marriage, then I'm sorry I can't help you," Sarah said to him with a strict tone.
"Come on, Sarah, you don't have to take what I said too seriously; I was just pulling your legs," Charles said to him.
"Well, you don't have to take my reply too personally; I was also pulling your legs," Sarah said to Charles before continuing with her food.
"Of course you weren't," Charles said to her.
"Of course I was, but if you don't believe me, that's okay; I'm already used to people not believing what I say," Sarah said to Charles, and immediately he sighed heavily.
"Let's just forget about that. By the way, are you okay with what I told you earlier?" Charles asked her.
"About what?" Sarah asked him.
"About us getting married next month," Charles said to Sarah, and immediately she sighed heavily.
"If that's what you want, then no problem," Sarah said to him.
"Really?" Charles asked her with an excited tone.
"Yes, or have you changed your mind?" Sarah asked him.
"No, of course; I was just too excited; I can't wait for you to start bearing my name," Charles said to Sarah, who smiled at his reply.
"Well, I would have loved it if you were the one bearing my name," Sarah said to Charles.
"What!!" Charles exclaimed with his eyes wide in surprise.
"What, did I say something wrong?" Sarah asked him.
"Yes, you did; normally, I'm the man, and you are the one who is supposed to be answering my name, not the other way around," Charles said to her.
"Well, I'm aware of that; I was just wishing that it would be as I had said it," Sarah said to him.
"Whatever, Sarah, stop wishing for things like that, please," Charles said to her before taking a sip of his drink.
"By the way, tell me about yourself," Sarah said to him.
"Well, there's nothing special about me; I'm just a normal kid who grew up with his two loving parents. After his parents passed away, all their properties were transferred to him," Charles said to Sarah.
"Ooh, sorry to hear that your parents have passed away," Sarah said to him.
"It's okay; it's true that it hurts sometimes, but I have gotten over it," Charles said to her.
"By the way, tell me about yours," Charles said to her.
"Well, my parents passed away when I was still very young; I didn't even get the chance to know them very well. The memory I have of them is their pictures, and since then, my uncle has been the one taking care of me," Sarah said to Charles, and immediately he widened his eyes in surprise.
"You mean Richard isn't your real father?" Charles asked her, and she shook her head negatively.
"He's not; he's my paternal uncle," Sarah said to him.
"Wow, who would have believed that he's not your real dad? I mean, he treats you like his real daughter; he assigned all his companies to you and everything," Charles said to him.
"Well, that's because he trusts me, even though I did nothing to earn his trust. That's why when he asks me to do something, I do it without any second thoughts; even when he asked me to give you a chance, I did. The only time I disobeyed him was when he asked me not to get married to Xavier, and believe me, up to now, I still regret not heeding his advice back then," Sarah said to Charles.
"Well, thank you for heeding his advice and giving me a chance; believe me, you aren't going to regret it," Charles said to her.
"I hope so," Sarah said to him with a warm smile.
"By the way, do you want to?" Charles said to her before pointing at the dance floor.
"What?" Sarah asked him while pretending not to know what he was talking about.
"Do you want to dance with me?" Charles asked her.
"No, no, and no. I'm tired," Sarah said to him.
"Please, just a little bit, or do you want me to kneel down?" Charles asked Sarah with pouted lips, and immediately she sighed heavily.
"No need for that; let's just go; remember, you said a little bit," Sarah asked him before standing up.
"Yeah, I'm aware of that; let's get to the dance floor first," Charles said to her before holding her hand while heading towards the dance floor.
