Chapter 88: Why Are You Stammering
After dropping Justin off at school, Sarah started heading to the company; in less than twenty minutes, she was already at the company.
Once she arrived, the security guards came and opened the door of the car for her, and at the same time, the reporters who were in front of the company reporting everything that was going on ran towards her and started bombarding her with questions, but happily, the security guards were around to shield her from the reporters until she got inside the company.
Once she got inside the company, she started heading directly to her office while maintaining a straight face. Meanwhile, the employees, knowing that she's the new boss, kept on greeting her as she was heading to her office without uttering a word to anyone.
As she was heading to her office, someone greeted her from behind, and immediately she turned around and saw a young lady standing behind her while holding some files.
"You are Tasha, the secretary, right?" Sarah asked her, and she nodded in reply.
"Okay, how can I help you?" Sarah asked her.
"I wanted to inform them that the inauguration ceremony is starting in an hour and many of the invitees haven't arrived yet. I wanted to ask if I should place a call across them and remind them of it," the secretary asked Sarah.
"Yes, you can go on and place a call across them; by the way, have you seen my personal assistant?" Sarah asked her.
"No, ma'am, but please, who is your personal assistant?" the secretary asked Sarah.
"Xavier Quim," Sarah said to her, and immediately she widened her eyes, probably surprised by the news that their former boss is now the personal assistant of the new boss of the company.
It's true that the news circulated in the media, but many people didn't believe it since they didn't get the chance to hear Xavier's statement about it.
"Hey, are you okay?" Sarah asked the secretary while waving her hand on her face, jolting her back to reality.
"Yes, ma'am, I'm okay," the secretary said to Sarah, and immediately she scoffed at her.
"Then answer my question: have you seen Xavier this morning?" Sarah asked her.
"No, ma'am, I haven't seen him," the secretary said to Sarah.
"Okay, then, you are free to go," Sarah said to her before turning and walking to her office.
Once she got to the front of her office, she noticed that the fingerprint reader that was connected to the door was green, meaning that the door was open. With that, she sighed in relief, knowing that she hadn't yet registered her fingerprint on the device, and if it wasn't open, she would have waited for Xavier's arrival because he had to insert his before they would be able to register a new one.
Taking hold of the knuckle of the door, she bent it down, and immediately the door opened. Without hesitating, she walked in, but once she walked into the office, she gasped in fear when she saw someone in a blue suit in her office. He was backing her while admiring the portrait on the wall. Even though the person was backing her, she could still tell that it was Xavier.
"Good morning, boss," Xavier greeted her while backing her, and with that, she huffed before walking to the table and dropping her bag.
"What are you doing in my office, and how did you get into the company without anyone noticing it?" She asked Xavier, and with that, he turned around and faced her. At the same time, Sarah noticed how handsome and hot he was looking in the suit he was wearing, and for a reason unknown to her, she couldn't help but admire his look.
"Do I look that handsome?" Xavier asked her, jolting her back to reality.
"No, you don't, and please don't change the subject; how did you get into the company without anyone noticing it?" Sarah asked him once again.
"It seems like you have forgotten that I was the former CEO of this company; I can get in and go out without anyone noticing it," Xavier said to her.
"How?" Sarah asked him with furrowed brows.
"It's a secret; I can't tell you," Xavier said to her.
"What do you mean by it's a secret? I'm the new CEO of this company, so I have the right to know," Sarah said to him.
"Well, I got in through the main entrance; no one noticed because they weren't paying attention," Xavier said to her.
"That's a lie," Sarah said to him.
"Well, that's none of my business; by the way, you look beautiful in your outfit," Xavier said to her.
"Stop trying to change the subject," Sarah said to him.
"I'm not trying to change the subject, and when I said you were looking beautiful, I was serious. Tell me, when was the last time someone told you that you were looking beautiful?" Xavier asked her while approaching her.
"Xavier, please stop it. Stop complimenting me; I don't like it. Just answer my question," Sarah said to him.
"What question? I don't remember you asking me any questions; that was probably because I was concentrated on your beautiful and breathtaking face," Xavier said to her, and immediately she rolled her eyes at him.
"Can you please tell me how you got into the company? Is there any secret passage in the company?" Sarah asked him.
"Yes, there is," Xavier said to her.
"Where is it?" Sarah asked him.
"Let me show you," Xavier said to her with a smirk while approaching her.
"Why are you approaching me like that?" Sarah asked him while taking some steps backward.
"I want to show you the secret passage you requested," Xavier said to her, and immediately she tried to step back again but Xavier held her hand and pulled her closer, and immediately her head collided with his chest his cologne filling her nostrils.
"Xavier, what are you doing? Sarah asked him while stammering.
"Why are you stammering? This wasn't how you were sounding yesterday on the phone, or have I started having effects on you?" Xavier asked her while peering into her eyeballs.
"Xavier," she tried calling his name again, but once again she stammered.
'This is going to be fun,' Xavier thought inwardly.
