Chapter 37: A Way Out
After discussing with her uncle for a little while, Sarah went and prepared for work. She wasn't going to allow a small issue like this one to prevent her from going to work; after all, it wasn't as if she did something wrong; she's a single lady, and dancing at her club with a man wasn't that bad after all; maybe the man in question might have been her boyfriend or fiancée. The issue there is that the masses wouldn't see it that way; instead, each one of them would draw their own conclusions, and worst of all, the face of the man who she was dancing with wasn't visible, and they might compare him to anyone.
After getting prepared, she joined her uncle at sitting for breakfast. After saying a word of prayer, they started eating their food.
"Are you sure you want to go to work today? You know you can take a day off today. It's true that none of your employees would say anything about it, but it would be good if you waited for the tension to reduce a little bit before resuming," her uncle said to her while eating his food.
"I'm not taking a day off, dad; doing that will make people think that what they are saying about me is true, and secondly, I didn't do anything wrong." Sarah said this to Richard while eating her food.
"Well, you are right about that; you didn't do anything wrong; after all, you aren't a child; who among them knows if the man you were dancing with was your boyfriend," Richard said to Sarah as she was still eating her meal.
"But tell me, Dad, has something like this happened to you before?" Sarah asked her uncle, who was busy eating his meal.
"Yes, of course, it happened to me countless times; sometimes it was easy to take it down, but sometimes I never succeeded in taking it down, and I had to deal with the consequences that came with it. That's the life of entrepreneurs, and we can't do anything about it. But don't worry about this one; I will surely bring it down," Richard said to Sarah, and she nodded in reply.
"By the way, I would advise you to be very careful nowadays; it seems like there's someone trying to bring you down by all means; first you were attacked by some armed men, and now it's pictures of you dancing in a club going viral. Just be careful, you understand?" Richard asked Sarah, and she nodded once again while eating her food.
"About Charles, how are both of you doing?" Richard asked Sarah.
"We are still how we are, and he's still insisting on giving him a chance," Sarah said to her uncle.
"And why are you still hesitant about giving him a chance?" Richard asked Sarah.
"I don't know, Dad; I just don't think that I'm ready for any relationship issues," Sarah said to her uncle.
"Come on, Sarah, you aren't getting any younger; why don't you give him a chance? I'm sure that he's sincere to you; if he wasn't sincere, he would have already given up for a very long time.
You can give him a chance, and if, with time, you notice that he isn't sincere, you can put an end to the relationship," Richard said to Sarah.
"Well, dad, starting a relationship isn't the main issue; it's putting an end to it that is the main issue, especially when your heart is already into it; but since you are asking me to give Charles a chance, I will give him a chance, and I will also try my best not to get my heart into it so that putting an end to it would be easier," Sarah said to Richard.
"Well, that's a good decision. By the way, hasn't he called you? He was the one you were dancing at the club with, right?" Richard asked Sarah, and she nodded in reply.
"Yes, he was the one; probably he hasn't seen it yet. I'm sure he will call once he sees it," Sarah said to her uncle, and immediately her phone that was inside her bag started ringing. Without hesitating, she brought it out of her bag and checked the caller ID, which was Charles.
"It's him," Sarah whispered to her uncle, and immediately he motioned for her to hurry and pick it up. Without hesitating, she picked it up and activated the loudspeaker before dropping it on the table so that her uncle would hear what he was saying.
"Good morning, Sarah, how are you?" Charles' voice sounded on the phone.
"I'm good, Charles. What about you?" Sarah asked him.
"I'm good too. Sorry for not calling earlier. I was just waking up to see our pictures trending online, even though mine was blurred, but believe me, I had nothing to do with this," Charles said to Sarah through the phone.
"Come on, Charles, I know that you aren't responsible for it; it's surely the doings of the same person who tried to kill me," Sarah said to Charles over the phone.
"Thanks for believing me, and sorry for also forcing you to dance with me yesterday; if I hadn't forced you to dance with me, none of this would have happened," Charles said to her.
"Come on, Charles, there's nothing to be sorry for; after all, I too loved the dance. The only thing I'm worried about is how to take the picture down," Sarah said to him.
"Well, I have contacted some of the people who I know can do that, and they are already working on it, but if that doesn't work, there's something else we can do, but I don't know if you will be okay with it," Charles said to Sarah through the phone, and immediately she turned and looked at her, who motioned for her to speak up.
"Well, tell me what it is first," Sarah said to him.
"You have to say before the press that I was the one who you danced with and that I'm your boyfriend or fiancée, and for a little period of time, we have to act as if we are together until the tension calms down. Can you do that?" Charles asked her, and immediately she turned and looked at her uncle, but he shrugged his shoulders, signaling to her that it was a personal decision.
"I will do it, and before we do it," Sarah said to him.
"Really?" Charles asked her in surprise.
"Yes, I will do it, and before that, there's also something I would love to tell you," Sarah said to him.
"Okay, then, the press conference will take place in my company if that's okay with you," Charles said to her.
"Yes, it's okay with me. See you then," Sarah said to him before hanging up.
Once she hung up, she looked at her uncle, who gave her a positive nod.
