Chapter 118: Proceeding With The Second Plan
As the audio was playing, the old man kept on staring at Adrian, anger and rage evident in his eyes.
From the way the old man was staring at Adrian, the others had already predicted that he was going to kill him; after all, this wasn't the first time they had seen the old man this angry, and they all know what he's capable of doing when he's angry.
"Adrian, what is the meaning of this?" The old man roared angrily once the video finished playing, causing everyone to jolt in fright.
"To be sincere, sir, I'm as surprised as you are; I don't know how this got out or who uploaded it online.
"What do you mean by being as surprised as I am?" The old man roared angrily.
"Wait just a minute, was this the reason why Adrian left New York City?" The old man asked Adrian.
"To be sincere, sir, I don't know anything about all this, and I can't also tell if this is the reason why Charles left New York City, because he didn't tell me anything about it. You know me well, sir; I would have probably stopped him from leaving if I was aware of his plan to leave," Adrian said to the old man.
"Well, I never said you were aware of his escape plan; what I'm asking about is the audio recording; weren't you aware of it?" The old man asked him.
"I swear through God, sir, I wasn't aware of it. How could I have been aware of something like this and not inform you about it? Mind you that my voice was also inside it, meaning that I'm currently in a huge mess because of this," Adrian said to the old man.
"Well, it's because of things like this that I asked you to keep an eye on Charles and not gossip with him, but you won't listen. Always doing what you think is right from your own perspective. At least I'm happy that you guys didn't mention my real name in any of this stupid conversation. I will try my best to take the audio down, but I can't promise you that I will succeed in doing that, and this will also be the last time I will clean up anyone's mess; if anyone of you gets himself into the kind of mess again, the person will take care of it by himself, and if I realize that what the person did is going to get others implicated, I will personally waste the person. I hope I have made myself clear." The old man asked them with a cold tone.
"Yes, boss," they all replied in unison while avoiding the old man's gaze.
"Perfect, you may all take your leave," the old man said to them, and immediately they all stood up and started heading to the exit, including Adrian.
"Not you, Adrian; you aren't among them," the old man said to Adrian, who was already at the exit, and with that, he stopped, walked back to his seat, and sat down.
"Thank you," Adrian said to him after some minutes of silence, but without giving him a reply, he brought out a cigarette from his pocket, took one stick, and placed it on his lips before bringing out a lighter, lightening it up.
"You don't need to thank me yet; after all, I haven't yet taken down the audio recording," the old man said to him after drawing the smoke from his cigarette and puffing it in the air.
"But at least you are going to do it, right?" Adrian asked him.
Yes, of course," the old man said to him before drawing the smoke from the cigarette and puffing it in the air once again, and with that, he turned to his security guards that were behind him.
"Leave us, please," he said to his security guards, and they bowed a little bit before walking away.
"Do you have any idea of who secretly recorded your conversations with Charles and uploaded them online?" The old man asked Adrian, who stretched out his hand and took the old man's cigarette and lighter, and while ignoring the old man's gaze, he took one stick and placed it on his lips and lightened it.
"Well, I don't have any idea, but the only suspect we have is Xavier," Adrian said to the old man before puffing the smoke of the cigarette in the air. Without hesitating, the old man stretched out his hand and took the pack of cigarettes and lighter and returned it to his pocket before rolling his eyes at Adrian, who chuckled at his reaction.
"Why do you think it's Xavier?" The old man asked him.
"Well, he was the only person who was vividly against the marriage of Charles and Sarah; he promised Charles on many occasions that he was going to prevent him from getting married to Sarah. That was the main reason why Charles wanted to eliminate him at all costs," Adrian said to the old man before puffing the smoke of the cigarette in the air.
"Well, one thing he didn't know was that eliminating Xavier isn't an easy task; Xavier is a retired mafia lord; he's always one step ahead of his enemies, and I can't risk my life because of him; after all, I have my own problems," the old man said to Adrian.
"Well, you should have told him that instead of promising him that you were going to take care of Charles, at least he would have taken some precautions knowing that he had a fight against a grand enemy," Adrian said to the old man, who was still busy smoking his cigarette.
"He had only one job, which was to keep an eye on Sarah, and I don't see how that prevented him from being on his guard; at least if he was on his guard, Xavier or whoever placed an audio recording device in his office couldn't have succeeded. If he had also informed me about the audio recording device, I could have found a way to retrieve it from Xavier before the wedding day, but instead of telling me, he decided to run away, thinking that there's anywhere he would run to and I won't find him," the old man said to Adrian before shaking his head in disbelief.
"You will be leaving for Italy tomorrow morning. I have contacted some of my connections over there, and they are currently tracking him. So before tomorrow morning, you will be getting the detailed address of where he is; all you have to do is go there, capture him, and bring him back here, and if he tries anything stupid, you already know what to do," the old man said to Adrian.
"Of course I already know what to do," Adrian said to the old man with a wicked smirk.
"But what will happen when I bring him back?" Adrian asked the old man.
"We will proceed with the second part of the plan," the old man said to him with a wicked smirk.
To be continued...
