Chapter 38: Clarifying Things
It was a fifteen-minute ride to Zenith Express Charles Company.
Once Sarah got to the company, she walked directly to where the receptionist was.
"Good morning, ma'am. How may I help you?" The receptionist asked her.
"I have an appointment with the CEO," Sarah said to him.
"OK, a minute, let me inform him about your arrival," the receptionist said to her before placing a call across through Charles, who picked up after some minutes of ringing.
"Good morning, sir. Mrs. Sarah is here; she said she has an appointment with you," the receptionist said to Charles over the phone.
"Yes, please show her to my office," Charles said to the receptionist before hanging up.
"Ma'am, please follow me," the receptionist said to Sarah after hanging up. Without hesitating, Sarah followed her from behind as they started heading towards the elevator.
Once they got in, she selected the fifth floor, and after some minutes, the elevator suddenly stopped, and the receptionist walked her to the front of an office, on which was written in bold "CEO."
Without hesitating, she placed a soft hand on the door, and immediately Charles' voice sounded from inside as he was asking them to come inside. With that, the secretary opened the door, allowing Sarah to walk in.
"Thank you so much, Alice," Charles said to the receptionist, who only smiled in return before walking away.
"Welcome to my aboard, Mrs. Sarah," Charles said to Sarah before standing up and pulling the chair back for her so that she could sit down.
"Thank you," Sarah said to him before sitting down.
"I must admit that you have a nice office," Sarah said to him while admiring how beautiful the office was, both the decorations and the pictures hanging on the wall, including his.
"Thanks so much. I'm happy that you love my office; probably one day I will have the chance to visit yours too," Charles said to her before walking to the cupboard in his office, where he brought out a wine and two cups, which he filled and handed one to Sarah.
"Thank you," Sarah said to him after collecting the wine from him and sipping it.
"The journalist is already getting things ready for the interview; once they are done, they will let me know so that we can proceed with the interview."
"Thanks so much; this is the second time you have been helping me out. I don't even know how I'm going to thank you for everything you have been doing for me," Sarah said to him before sipping her drink.
"There is no need to thank me; when it comes to you, my help is always unlimited; you can get it at any time, and as for how to thank me, you already know what I want, but you are determined to play the hard lady with me, but that won't stop me from helping you when necessary," Charles said to Sarah with a warm smile before sitting down on his chair.
"It's not that I'm determined on playing the hard lady with you; all I'm requesting is just a little time, and I will give you my honest feedback," Sarah said to him.
"OK, no worries, I'm still waiting patiently; after all, I told you that I have a whole magazine of patience," Charles said to her before taking a sip of his wine.
"Don't worry, your magazine of patience won't be exhausted before I give you feedback; you are only going to make use of a small amount in it," Sarah said to Charles, and he nodded in reply.
"By the way, you told me over the phone that you had something to tell me before the interview; what was it?" Charles asked Sarah.
"Ooh, about that. Just have a little patience. I will inform you about it soon, and I also want you to join me in the interview since you were the one who I was dancing with," Sarah said to Charles.
"No problems; I will be delighted to join you," Charles said to Sarah, and at the same time, his phone started ringing.
With that, he took his phone and checked the call and checked the caller ID, which was Adrian. Without hesitating, he picked up the call.
"Hello, man, the journalist is ready for the interview; if she has arrived, then bring her along so that she can proceed with the interview," Adrian said to Charles over the phone.
"Ok, man, we will be there in a few minutes," Charles said to Adrian before hanging up.
"Let's get going; the journalist is ready," Charles said to Sarah before standing up and gulping down the remaining wine, as did Sarah.
With that, Charles rinsed the two glass cups and returned them to the cupboard before walking out of the office with Sarah.
After walking for some minutes, they finally arrived in the room where the interview was going to take place. Everything was in place, including the camera operator who was going to broadcast the interview and also the journalist.
Once they came inside, the journalist, a lady probably thirty years of age, stood and greeted Charles and Sarah before showing Sarah where she would sit down in order to be captured by the camera.
"I'm joining in the interview too; after all, I was the one who danced with her," Charles said to the journalist.
"Are you sure about that?" The journalist asked Charles, and he nodded in reply.
"Okay, let's begin then," the journalist said to both of them after showing them where to sit down.
"Are you ready?" The journalist asked Sarah and Charles, and they nodded in reply, and with that, she motioned for the camera operator to begin the broadcast.
"You are going live in three, two, and one," the camera operator said to them before broadcasting the interview live.
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Catherine Smith, and I'm here with Sarah Jones, the CEO of Ethic Textiles, both in New York and England, and also Charles Jackson, the CEO of Zenith Express. As we all know, we woke up this morning to see some wild images of Sarah Jones trending on every social media handle, and she has decided to clarify things for everyone.
"Mrs. Sarah Jones, what do you have to say about your wild images trending on every social media handle?" The journalist asked Sarah.
Meanwhile, in a huge sitting room, sat a man probably in his late forties. He was busy puffing the smoke of the cigarette in between his fingers while watching the news that was being broadcast.
"Good work, my boy; everything is going as planned; it's just a matter of time before I finally execute my plans," he muttered to himself before drawing the smoke from the cigarette and puffing it in the air.
To be continued.
