Chapter 90: The Interview

"Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together as we welcome to the stage Mrs. Sarah Jones, the CEO of Ethic Textiles and presently the CEO of Quim Corporation," the master of ceremonies announced, and with that, everyone started applauding as Sarah stood up from where she was sitting beside Charles and started heading to the stage. Once she came to the stage, she cleared herself before proceeding. "Hello everyone! Thank you all for honoring my invitation; I really appreciate it. As you know, I just bought this company, which means that I'm now the CEO of the company. After everything the company has been through recently, I have decided to reboot the system of the company and start from scratch.  I know this will be a new beginning for Quim Corporation, and it's not going to be easy, but with the help of the new investors and new clients we will be able to overcome any difficulties we will meet. I will also appreciate it if no one views the company by its old image; let us view it by its new image, which is the one I'm going to give it as of today. I will also want to use love to use this opportunity to thank all those who put their trust in me and invested in the company even though it hasn't been fully established, and I won't forget one of the investors who invested even when I haven't yet bought the company. I only told him about my plan of acquiring Quim Corporation, and he willingly invested beforehand. This person is no one else than Mr. Renold Gonzalez; please let us put our hands together for him." Sarah said to the audience, and immediately everyone applauded Mr. Renold, who was busy grinning ear to ear. Meanwhile, Xavier, who was sitting among the audience, only shook his head in disbelief without making any gesture. "I think that will be all for now; maybe next time I will have other things to say," Sarah said to the audience, and immediately everyone applauded for her. As she was about to come down from the stage, the MC called her back. "Actually, the audience would love to know much about you, and because of that, I organized some questions that I would like to ask you. Do you mind?" The MC asked Sarah, and she shook her head negatively, but unknown to her, the MC also works as a journalist, and he wanted to get some information from her. "Please have a seat," the MC said to her while pointing at one of the chairs on the stage, and with that, she sat down and the MC sat opposite her. "Okay, the first question goes this way: why did you decide to buy Quim Corporation? I mean, you already had two comparisons, one in England and one here in New York City," the MC said to her. "Well, there are many reasons why I bought Quim Corporation, but I will talk only about two; the first one is because I wanted to invest somewhere else aside from Ethic Textiles, so I opened a new company and invested in it, and the second is because of my son," Sarah said to him, and immediately he furrowed his brows at her. "Wait a minute, so you have a son? If not, we have been hearing rumors that you have a son, and his father is the former CEO of Quim Corporation, Xavier Quim," the MC said to her. "Yes, I have a son, and just as you said, his father is Xavier Quim, the former CEO of Quim Corporation. We were married six years ago, but because of some issues, we went our separate ways," Sarah said to the MC, and at the at the same time, the people in the audience started murmuring some words among themselves while Xavier, on the other hand, clenched his fist in anger, knowing where the MC was slowly heading. "Wow, so do you mind telling us how your son is the reason why you bought Quim Corporation?" The MC asked Sarah, who wasn't even disturbed by his questions. "Well, after the divorce, I left my son with his father because of some circumstances I wouldn't like to talk about, so when I came back a year ago, I decided that it was time to take care of my son, so I sold the company in England and bought Quim Corporation in order to be present in New York City and take care of my son," Sarah said to him. "Wow, that's wonderful. Not only are you a hardworking lady, you are also a good mother; if not, I was thinking that your marriage, which is around the corner, is the reason why you sold your company in England and bought Quim Corporation, but learning that it was because of your son adds more value to it," the MC said to Sarah. "Thanks so much. Just as they say, charity begins at home; if I wasn't a good mother right from home, then I wouldn't have been a successful lady in my business domain," Sarah said to the MC. "We would have loved to know the reason why you left your son with his father after the divorce, but since you said that it's personal and you won't like to talk about it, we would move on to the next question, which is also the last. "Recently, we have been hearing rumors that you employed Xavier Quim, who is the former CEO of Quim Corporation and also your ex-husband, as your personal assistant." Is that true, and if it's true, do you mind telling us why? We're all curious to know," the MC asked Sarah, and immediately Xavier clinched his fist in anger while glaring angrily at the MC. Right from the beginning, he knew that this is where the MC was slowly heading, and Sarah, who is also looking for an opportunity to kick him out of Quim Corporation, was going to use this opportunity to humiliate him so that he would leave by himself due to shame. "Well, I would have really loved to answer this question, but fortunately the person who the question concerns is here; why don't you invite him so that he can come and answer the question himself??" Sarah said to MC with a wicked smirk. "You mean Mr. Quim is here, and I should invite him over?" The MC asked Sarah. "Yes, of course, invite him over," Sarah said to him while grinning ear to ear. "Mr. Quim, please,please, your presence is requested on the stage;; come and join us if you are present," the MC said to Xavier. "Damnit," Xavier muttered inwardly before standing up and heading to the stage. To be continued...
