Chapter 72: Already?
It has been a very busy and hectic week for Sarah. Since the beginning of the week, she has been taking care of all the judicial agreement forms she has to take care of before being proclaimed the official owner of Quim Corporation.
While purchasing the company, she hadn't imagined that she would go through many stressful processes before being recognized as the new CEO of the company. She had thought that just signing the transfer of ownership agreement with Xavier was enough, but unknown to her, there were still many processes on the way. It wasn't like that of Ethic Textiles, where all she had to do was sign a simple contract while her uncle took care of the remaining processes for her.
Meanwhile, she had just returned from one of the companies where she went to take care of some of the judicial agreements.
Once she entered her office, she saw the dozens of files waiting for her on top of her desk. She had worked on some of them the previous day, leaving the rest behind, and the documents in the files weren't just any type of document; they were confidential documents, so she couldn't assign them either to her secretary or Lucy, who was her personal assistant; she had to take care of them herself.
Sighing heavily, she sat down on her chair and scrubbed her hand on her face twice before taking the files one after the other and working on the files in them.
After working on the documents for over an hour, her phone that was inside her bag started ringing, and with that, she took her bag and brought out the phone and checked the caller ID, which was Charles, and with that, she smiled at herself before picking it up.
"Hey, my beautiful wife, how are you doing?" Charles asked Sarah over the phone.
"I'm fine, Charles; what about you?" Sarah asked him over the phone.
"Well, I'm not fine. I called you my lovely wife, but you replied by calling my name, so I'm not fine," Charles said to Sarah, and immediately she smiled before shaking her head in disbelief.
"Ooh, my lovely husband, I'm so sorry about that; don't worry, it won't happen again," Sarah said to Charles.
"Apologies accepted; by the way, how isyour day going?" Charles asked her.
"Very good, my lovely husband; what about yours?" Sarah asked Charles.
"Mine too is fine, but you don't sound fine. I hope everything is okay." Charles asked her.
"Yeah, everything is okay; it's just that I had a long day," Sarah said to him.
"Ooh, sorry about that. Do you mind if I take you out for dinner in order to cheer you up a little bit?" Charles asked her.
"Of course I don't mind; when will you be coming over?" Sarah asked him.
"Well, it's almost six p.m.; I will be there in a few minutes," Charles said to her.
"Okay, I will be expecting you then," Sarah said to him before hanging.
"Once Sarah hung up, she quickly finished with the remaining documents, and once she was done with them, she arranged them on the shelf of her office before arranging the documents on her table, and with that, she brought out her makeup kit from her bag and started applying it to her face.
As she was still putting the powder on her face, she heard a knock on her door.
"A minute, please, she replied, knowing well that it was Charles.
Without hesitating, she quickly applied the powder to her face before arranging the makeup kit in her bag. With that, she took her handbag, walked to the door, and opened it.
"Wow!" Charles exclaimed once she came out.
"What's wrong?" Sarah asked Charles with furrowed brows.
"Nothing; I was astonished by your beauty; it seems like you keep on getting beautiful with each passing day," Charles said to Sarah, and with that, she smiled at him before rolling her eyes at him.
"Come on, Charles, stop flattering me; I thought there was something on my face," Sarah said to him.
"Of course, the only thing on your face is beauty," Charles said to Sarah, making her blush like a teenage girl.
"Enough with the sweet words; let's get going already," Sarah said to him before holding his and walking towards the reception area that led towards the exit.
As they were walking together, Sarah could clearly hear the whispers of the employees who were discussing how they both looked cute together and how they were made for each other.
"I didn't bring my car along, so you will be the one driving," Charles said to Sarah once they got to the garage.
"Ok, no problem with that," Sarah said to him before unlocking the car, and with that, the both of them got inside, and Sarah zoomed off.
"Where are we heading to?" Sarah asked him after they left the company.
"Why don't you choose the restaurant of your choice? I have been the ones choosing lately," Charles said to her.
"Okay, no problem," Sarah said to him before driving directly to the restaurant Lucy had shown her the first time she took her out.
"Wow, I thought you had forgotten about this restaurant," Charles said to her once they got to the restaurant.
"No, I haven't, but please no dancing today; I don't have the energy for dancing.
"No problem, my love," Charles said to her before kissing her on the cheeks as the both of them were making their way into the restaurant.
Once the security guards saw them, they greeted them before bowing them a little bit as a sign of respect.
Once they got inside, Charles held her hand and took her to the VIP area, where only rich people stayed.
Once they sat down, the waitress came and took their orders, and after some minutes, they were served.
"Hope you like the food?" Charles asked her as they were both eating.
"Yes, of course Sarah said to him in reply, and with that, he scooped the food and fed her with it while ignoring the onlookers.
"You know I can feed myself, right?" Sarah asked him, feeling shy.
"Yeah, I know, but I feel like feeding you. By the way, I have something I want to tell you," Charles said to her.
"Okay, what is it?" Sarah asked him.
"I want us to get married next month," Charles said to her.
"Already?" Sarah asked him with furrowed brows.
To be continued...
