Chapter 94: Loosing Faith In The Old Man
"Hey bro, where have you been through the whole? I called you more than three times, but you didn't pick up," Adrian said to Charles, who just entered the office looking tired.
"Where do you think I have been?" Charles asked Adrian, who had already stood up, so that he could sit down.
If I'm not mistaken, you were with your fiancée, right?" Adrian asked Charles.
"Yeah, exactly. After the inauguration ceremony, I followed her to check out the wedding gown she was going to put on on the wedding day," Charles said to Adrian, who started beaming with smiles.
"Wow, I can't believe that my friend, who was determined never to get married, is finally going to get married, and it's not even to any lady but to one of the richest ladies in New York City," Adrian said to Charles, who scoffed at him.
"Whatever, bro, you know well that if it depended on me, I would never get married, even if it were to the daughter of the president of the USA. I mean, how can you expect a man to spend his whole life with only a lady? Isn't that crazy?" Charles asked Adrian with a disgusted tone.
"Come on, bro, every man was created to get married to one wife; even the Bible says that a man will leave his parents and stick to his wife, not wives or mistresses," Adrian said to Charles, who rolled his eyes at him before hissing angrily at him.
"I can't believe that you are quoting a Bible verse for me. If I may ask, when was the last time you went to church?" Charles asked him with a mockery tone.
"Well, I might be a bad guy just like you, but that doesn't mean I don't go to church," Adrian said to Charles confidently.
"You can go to church all you want, but one thing is sure: we both have the same destination, which is hell, so I will advise you to stop wasting your time and energy in the church. Just be like me, enjoy your life to the full, and when the right time comes, you will join your ancestors wherever they are," Charles said to Adrian.
"Thanks for the advice, but I didn't ask for it; even though I needed advice, you will be the last person I ask," Adrian said to Charles.
"Okay, no problems. I will remind you of what you just said when you will run to me as usual, seeking my advice," Charles said to Adrian, and immediately he rolled his eyes at him while manipulating his phone.
"By the way, bro, since you can't stay with only a lady, how are you going to manage after getting married to Sarah?" Adrian asked him.
"Well, I will control myself until I'm done with my mission; after all, it's something I will take care of in less than a month, so I don't see any reason to be worried," Charles said to Adrian in reply.
"What if she doesn't give in easily? What will you do? Will you cheat on her with other ladies?" Adrian asked him.
"Look, bro, you are already supposed to know who I am. I will surely take care of everything before it gets to the stage where I will be out of control, so there's nothing to worry about," Charles said confidently to Adrian.
"Bro, are you sure? I mean, since you started working for the old man, no one has ever given you a hard time like Sarah, and mind you that there's Xavier who would stop at nothing to make sure you guys separate, so with all these, are you very sure that you would be able to take care of everything in less than a month, just as you are claiming?" Adrian asked Charles, but this time around he couldn't reply, knowing that Xavier was still on his way and the wedding day was slowly approaching, while according to his plans, Xavier was already supposed to be out of the way because as long as he was around, he was always going to have difficulties accomplishing his mission in a short period of time.
"Hey bro, are you okay?" Adrian asked him, jolting him back to reality.
"Yeah, I just remembered that the wedding day is slowly approaching and still the old man hasn't yet done anything about Xavier. I mean, he's a very big threat to me and to the whole mission, and presently he is now working as Sarah's personal assistant, meaning that he will always be with her except if she decides to work at Ethic Textiles instead of Quim Corporation, and we both know that it's impossible because she recently became the CEO, so he has to be present in order to receive the first clients that will show interest in the company," Charles said to Adrian.
"Why don't you tell Sarah to fire him?" Adrian asked Charles, and he sighed heavily.
"He's always one step ahead, and that's what scares me the most; actually, Sarah can't fire him because of the image of the company," Charles said to Adrian.
"Oops, I think the only thing you can do is reach out to the old man; even though he's delaying, I'm sure that he knows what he's doing," Adrian said to Charles.
"Come, bro, to be sincere, I have started losing faith in the old man. Didn't you see what he did the previous time? Instead of going for Xavier directly, he attacked his son. How is that supposed to solve my problem, which is getting rid of Xavier?" Charles asked Adrian before ruffling his hair in frustration.
"You might find what he did weird, but that was exactly what he was supposed to do," Adrian said to Charles, and immediately he furrowed his brows at him.
"Yes, bro, imagine that he had succeeded in abducting Xavier's son. Do you think that Xavier would have had the time to concentrate on preventing you from getting married to Sarah? Even after finding him, his main aim would be to protect his son, not you or Sarah anymore, but if he had attacked Xavier directly and failed, not only will Xavier know who he is, but the old man won't be able to help you again. I hope you have understood." Adrian asked Charles.
"So just as I said, have a little patience; the old man knows what he's doing; he will surely take care of everything in his due time, so concentrate on Sarah while he concentrates on Xavier," Adrian said to Charles, and he nodded in reply with a wicked smirk hovering over his face.
