Chapter 113: Searching For Charles
Back in the church, the sound of the melodies could still be heard as the choir kept singing tirelessly in order to entertain the guests who were patiently awaiting the arrival of the bride and the groom.
Only if they knew that the groom had disappeared, leaving his bride behind.
Meanwhile, the old man has been busy trying to reach Charles through his phone, but his line haven't been going through, and at the same time, he hasn't yet gotten any feedback from Adrian, who went in search of Charles.
No matter how hard the old man tried to remain calm, he just knew that something was wrong, but he couldn't yet grasp what it was about.
Some minutes later, when the old man couldn't take it anymore, he stood up and started walking out of the church, heading to his car.
Once he came out, he looked around to see if anyone was around the area, and when he realized that he was alone, he opened his car, got inside, and whined the glasses of the window up before placing a call across to Adrian, who picked up after some minutes of ringing.
"Adrian, what's going on? Where are you and Charles?" The old man asked Adrian once he picked up the call.
"I'm just coming out of Charles' house; I don't know how to say this, but there is a huge problem," Adrian said to him.
"What do you mean by there's a huge problem? Where is Charles? Can you pass him the phone? I want to talk to him," the old man said to Adrian.
"I'm sorry, sir, but Charles isn't here," Adrian said to the old man.
"And where the hell is he?" The old man thundered angrily at Adrian.
"I think Charles has left New York City," Adrian said to the old man.
"What!!" The old man exclaimed in surprise.
"What do you mean by Charles have left New York City?" The old man asked Adrian through the phone.
"Actually, when I got to his mansion, he was nowhere to be found, so I decided to search his room, but after breaking into the room, I discovered that the whole room was empty; none of his belongings were in the room," Adrian said to the old man.
"What!!! How is that even possible, and how did he manage to leave without any of the spies informing us?" The old man asked Adrian through the phone.
"He drugged all of them," Adrian said to the old man.
"What!!! I hope you have seen the reason why I asked you to keep an eye on him and, if possible, stay with him till the wedding day and make sure you bring him here yourself, but just as usual, you have decided to do what you wanted, ruining everything for me. You better find him wherever he is; if not, you won't like what I will do to you," the old man roared angrily before hanging up the call.
"Damnit, the old man yelled in frustration, landing a punch on the window of the car, but fortunately it was bulletproofed, so it didn't have any effect.
Taking his phone, he entered his contacts and started searching for someone's contact information. After some minutes of searching, he finally found the contact he was searching for, and without hesitating, he placed a call through it and waited for some minutes before the call was picked.
"Good day, Mr. Raymond. How are you?" The person asked the old man after picking him up.
"I'm good, Jason; I need your help with something," the old man said to him.
"Okay, sir, what can I help you with?" The person asked him.
"I hope you know Charles, right?" The old man asked him.
"Charles Smith?" The person asked the old man.
"Yes, Charles Smith," the old man said to him in reply.
"Of course I know him, sir; he's getting married today to Sarah Jones, if I'm not mistaken," the person said to the old man.
"Exactly, that's him. I want you to check if he booked a flight at your airport today," the old man said to him.
"Okay, sir, give me some minutes," the person said to the old man.
"Yes, he booked a flight this morning, but it wasn't at this airport; it was at John F. Kennedy Airport," the person said to the old man.
"Perfect. I want you to send me every single report about the flight, and I want it as soon as possible," the old man said to him.
"Let me guess, another runaway," the person said to the old man.
"Exactly; it seems like they are all the same," the old man said to the person, and he smiled through the phone.
"Don't worry, sir, I will send it over right away," the person said to the old man.
"Okay, thanks for your help; I really appreciate it," the old man said to him.
"Don't mention, sir; I owe you more than that. Take care," the person said to the old man before hanging up.
"Once the call was hanged up, the old man smirked wickedly before leaning on the chair.
"Wait until I get my hands on you, Charles. I will make sure I break those legs of yours. Do you think that you can run away from me after I have made you rich and given you everything you wanted? Your life and everything about you belong to me, and I can only free you whenever I want. You can run away from me, but you can't hide yourself from me," the old man muttered to himself, and at the same time, a notification popped into his phone.
Without hesitating, he took his phone and checked the notification, which was the report of Charles flight.
"Well, what do we have here?" The old man asked himself while going through the report, and after going through it for some minutes, he smirked at himself.
"Seems like it's time to visit Italy; after all, it's been a while,"the old man muttered to himself before igniting his car and driving out of the church premises.
To be continued...
