Chapter 55: The Reason Behind His Hatred
It was nine p.m., and Charles had just finished having dinner with Sarah and her uncle with Justin, who was busy glaring daggers at Charles until they finished the dinner.
After dinner, Justin went to his room, leaving behind Richard and Sarah, who were busy discussing Charles.
From the perspective of things, it was already clear to Charles that Justin didn't like him and he was never going to like him, but what he didn't understand was why the little boy who knew nothing about him hated him that much; it was as if he knew everything about him, including his plans.
After discussing with Sarah and Richard for a little while, Charles decided to take his leave, and with that, Sarah decided to walk him to the garage.
"Thanks so much for the dinner; I really enjoyed it," Charles said to her as they were walking to the garage.
"Don't mention it; actually, I wanted to be the one to cook the dinner, but I couldn't due to the traffic jam. Next time, I will be the one to cook it," Sarah said to him.
"Okay, I will wait patiently for the next time," Charles said to Sarah, who smiled at him.
"By the way, I'm so sorry about Justin's reaction earlier; I will talk to him," Sarah said to him.
"You don't have to apologize about that; he is a child, and I understand what he did. Maybe he was thinking that I was trying to steal you away from him. I'm sure that with time we will start getting along," Charles said to her.
"I hope so too, but I will still talk to him," Sarah said to him.
"Ok, no problem, but don't be too harsh with him; he's still a kid," Charles said to her.
"I know, I will only explain to him that you are a nice guy. I will also advise him to give you a chance to prove to him how cool you are," Sarah said to Charles, who smiled at her statement.
"What's funny with what I said?" Sarah asked Charles when she noticed how he was grinning ear to ear.
"Actually, I was surprised that you said that I was cool; I never knew that I was cool," Charles said to Sarah, and immediately she rolled her eyes at him, causing him to burst into a round of laughter.
"You think I don't know what I'm saying? That's why you are laughing, right?" Sarah asked him with a frown before folding her hands and backing him.
"No, of course; I was just pulling your legs," Charles said to her before approaching her and hugging her from behind.
"Let go of me," Sarah said to him while feigning to be angry.
"Okay, I'm sorry, I never meant to laugh at you," Charles said to her while hugging her from behind.
"Apologies not accepted," Sarah said to him while frowning more.
"With that, Charles bit her earlobe and slowly trailed a kiss to her on the neck, making Sarah giggle.
"Please stop; it's tingling me," Sarah said while giggling under his embrace.
"No, I'm not stopping until you forgive me," Charles said to her while trailing his kisses around her neck.
"Okay, I have forgiven you. Please stop," Sarah said to him while giggling, and with that, Charles freed her from his embrace, allowing her to turn around and face him with her whole face flushing red.
"How I wish you could invite me over more often," Charles said to Sarah before kissing her on the forehead.
"I would have really loved to invite you, but that would be later since you and my son aren't yet on good terms. But don't worry; I will try to talk to him, and once both start getting along, you can come over anytime," Sarah said to him.
"Ok, no problems. I will also try my best to prove to him that I'm a cool guy, just as you stated," Charles said to Sarah before kissing her on the lips.
"I will call that one goodbye kiss; have a good night," Charles said to Sarah before opening his car and entering inside.
"Drive safely," Sarah said to Charles, who nodded in reply before igniting his car and zooming off.
Once he left, Sarah returned to the sitting room where her uncle was watching the news.
Once Sarah came in, she sighed heavily before walking to where her uncle was and sitting down beside him. With that, she placed her head on his shoulder while watching television with him.
"It seems like your baby boy doesn't like your boyfriend," Richard said to Sarah.
"You can say that again, Dad; one would think that both of them had known each other in the past," Sarah said to her uncle.
"Yes, that's the same thing I had also thought," Richard said to Sarah, who sighed heavily.
But, Dad, what do you think made him act like that? It's true that I don't know much about him, but he doesn't look like a rude child," Sarah said to her uncle.
"You are right, he's not a rude child. I spent the whole day with him, and he didn't act rudely towards me or towards the maids, and I must admit that Xavier really did a good job training him up. According to me, the reason why he acted like that towards Charles is because he saw him as an obstacle; probably he was already dreaming of the day you and Xavier are going to get back together in order to become one happy family, and suddenly he saw you kissing Charles. In his head, he had already imagined you and Charles getting married soon, meaning that you and Xavier won't get back together and you won't all become the happily married family he had dreamed of,Richard said to Sarah, and immediately she sighed heavily.
"Dad, this is really a complicated issue; what do you suggest about it?" Sarah asked Richard before adjusting herself on the couch.
"Just as you said, it's really a complicated issue. It's due to reasons like this one that many people don't like dating a single parent because they already know that they won't get along with the child of their partner. I will advise you to talk to him and know why he acted like that towards Charles; when he explains his reasons to you, you will then know what to do about it," Richard said to Sarah.
"Thank you so much, Dad; that's exactly what I will do," Sarah said to her uncle before leaning towards him and placing her head on his shoulder once again while thinking of how she was going to get Justin to like Charles.
