Chapter 123: Dilemma
After taking her son to school, Sarah drove directly to the company. On getting to the company, she was surprised to see numerous reporters standing in front of the company, probably wanting to question her about the wedding event that took place the previous day.
Seeing them, she wanted to run back to the garage and wait till they were gone before entering the company, but unfortunately for her, the reporters had already seen her, and without hesitating, they quickly started chasing after her.
Meanwhile, Xavier was in his office working on a file on his computer when he started hearing some noises from outside, and without hesitating, he stood up and walked to the window and looked down only to see numerous reporters running behind Sarah, and with that, he shook his head in disbelief before walking out of his office. When he saw the reporters earlier this morning, he had placed a call across her to inform her about it, but she didn't pick up.
Walking to the reception area, he asked some guards to follow him, and without hesitating, they followed him and started heading to where the reporters were throwing thousands of questions at her. Getting there, they forced their way into the crowd, and with the help of the guards, they shielded her until she got into the company.
"Thank you," she said to the guards and Xavier before making her way to the elevator, leaving Xavier behind and at the same time waving at some of the employees who bowed a little bit while greeting her.
After some minutes, the elevator opened, and with that, she walked to the front of her office and placed her finger on the scanner. After scanning for some minutes, the door opened, and she walked in.
Getting into her office, she heaved a sigh of relief before dropping her bag on the table and sitting down, and at the same time her phone started ringing.
Taking her bag, she brought out her phone and checked the caller ID, which was Lucy, and without hesitating, she picked up and placed the phone on her ear.
"Good morning, Sarah, How are you doing?" Lucy's voice sounded from the other end.
"I'm good, Lucy. What about you?" Sarah asked her.
"I'm good too; I hope you slept well." Lucy asked her.
"Yes, I did; what about you?" Sarah asked her.
"I slept well too; I wanted to ask if you would be coming to work today." Lucy asked her.
"Yes, of course, I'm presently at the office," Sarah said to her.
"Ooh, I forgot that my friend is a workaholic, and no matter what, she will always be at work," Lucy said to Sarah, who scoffed before shaking her head in disbelief.
"Whatever Lucy, today is Monday, and you don't expect me to be absent from or do you?" Sarah asked her.
"Well, I expected you to be absent today after what happened yesterday; you could have at least taken a week to recover from everything," Lucy said to her.
"There's no need for that, Lucy; I wasn't suffering from anything, so what do I have to recover from?" Sarah asked her through the phone.
"Well, if you say so, no problem then. Your meeting with Mr. Lorenzo, is it still holding?" Lucy asked her.
"Yes, it is still holding; call him to inform him in advance," Sarah said to her, and at the same time she heard a knock on the door.
"Okay, I will do that right away. Have a nice day," Lucy said to her.
"Thanks, Lucy, and same to you," Sarah said to her before hanging up.
"Who is that?" Sarah asked while raising her voice a little bit so that the person knocking could hear her voice.
"It's me," Xavier's voice sounded from outside, and with that, Sarah frowned.
"Come in," Sarah said to him after some minutes of silence, and with that, the door opened, and Xavier walked inside and stood some distance away from her while staring at her.
"Xavier, what do you want?" Sarah asked him before switching on her computer.
"Nothing much, just wanted to check up on you," Xavier said to her, and with that, she raised her head and looked at him with squinted brows.
"And since when did you start checking on me? Is that a new routine?" Sarah asked him with a sarcastic tone.
"Well, I would be very happy if you added that to my daily routine here," Xavier said to Sarah, who rolled her eyes at him.
"Xavier I'm not your wife or girlfriend, so you don't need to check up on me, okay? And by the way, thank you for exposing Charles; I really appreciate it," Sarah said to him.
"Don't mention it, but it's all you have to thank me for." Xavier asked her, and immediately Sarah furrowed her brows at him.
"Yes, or is there something else I have to thank you for?" Sarah asked Xavier, who was still staring at him. "Wait just a minute; if it's about what happened between us last night, I'm not thanking you for that, and I will really appreciate it if you get it out of your head because it meant nothing to me," Sarah said to him with a serious tone, and with that, Xavier scoffed at her.
"It meant nothing to you, Sarah, but it meant something to me," Xavier said to her before walking closer to her desk. "You can't just come to my house to sleep with me, and the next day tell me to forget about it," Xavier said to Sarah, who glared angrily at him.
"Well, I wouldn't have slept with you if you hadn't seduced me," Sarah said to him.
"And you easily gave in; just say you wanted me badly the same way I wanted you; if not, you wouldn't have come to my house in the first place," Xavier said to her before stretching out his hand and caressing her cheeks, but immediately Sarah slapped his hand away.
"I never wanted you or anything like that; the only reason why I came to your house was to ask about the audio recording, and you are very well aware of that," Sarah said to him with a firm tone.
"Well, I will pretend to believe what you just said, but have you thought of the possibility of getting pregnant after what happened between us last night? Remember we didn't use any protection," Xavier said to her with a wicked smirk.
"Never!!! That's never going to happen, and even if it happens, I will instantly get rid of it," Sarah said to him with a firm tone.
"And you think I'm going to allow you to get rid of my child if you eventually get pregnant?" Xavier asked her before grinning wickedly at her.
"Have a nice day, my dear, and about what happened yesterday, don't think too much about it; I'm still here for you," Xavier said to her before blowing a kiss at her and walking out of the office.
Once he left, Elizabeth placed her hand on her forehead before sighing heavily. "What have I gotten myself into this time around?" She muttered to herself.
