Chapter 107: Reminding Him Of His Mission
"Bro, do you think the old man is planning to punish me or something like that?" Charles asked Adrian, who was concentrated on the steering wheel.
"Well, I don't know; we have to get there first before knowing," Adrian said to Charles with his gaze still on the steering, and with that, Charles sighed heavily.
After some minutes, Adrian looked at Charles, who was already lost in his thoughts, and with that, he shook his head in disbelief.
"Don't tell me you are now scared of seeing the old man," Adrian said to Charles, returning his gaze to the steering.
"I'm not afraid of the old man; I'm only afraid of what he might do when we get there. You well know how he behaves when he's angry," Charles said to Adrian.
"Of course I know how he behaves, and believe me, I would have been afraid if I were in your place," Adrian said to Charles who sighed heavily before turning his gaze to the window and looking outside.
"You know you would have avoided all these if you had listened to me and stayed out of Xavier's way. Despite knowing that even the old man hasn't succeeded in taking him down, you still went after him, ignoring my warnings, and the worst part of the whole story is that you didn't even send your men to go after him, but instead you went after him yourself, and all this because he threatened to make your marriage life with Sarah unbearable, as if this is the first time he has threatened you.
I will advise you to start figuring out what you will tell the old man when we get there because he is really angry," Adrian said to Charles without even sparing him a glance.
After some minutes of driving, they finally arrived at the old man's mansion. Without hesitating, Charles honked twice at the gate, and one of the security guards opened the gate and drove in.
Once they got in, Adrian drove towards the garage where he parked the car, and with that, he came down from the car with Xavier.
"Let's get going," Adrian said to Charles after locking the car, and without hesitating, Charles followed him from behind as he was heading inside.
Getting to the sitting room, they met the old man sitting alone while smoking his cigarette, and behind him were two of his armed bodyguards. From his facial expression, which was void of emotion, one could already tell how angry he is.
"Good evening, sir." Charles and Adrian greeted him in unison once they walked in.
"Good evening, Adrian. How are you?" The old man asked him while ignoring Charles.
"I'm good, sir," Adrian said to him in reply.
"Okay, can you please leave us for a little while? I want to have some words with your friend." The old man said this to Adrian.
"No problem, sir," Adrian said to him before patting Charles on the shoulder and walking away.
When Adrian left, the old man ignored Charles and continued smoking. After what seemed like forever, he turned his gaze towards Charles, who had been standing for all this time.
"So tell me, what happened between you and Xavier?" The old man asked him while avoiding his angry glare.
"Xavier sent me a letter this evening, telling me that as long as he is alive, he is going to make sure that I don't have a happy happy married life with Sarah, and this wasn't the first time he has done it; he has been doing it for a very long time, and that was one of the reasons why I asked you to eliminate it. When he sent me the message today, I just couldn't take it anymore, so I decided to go and teach him a lesson," Charles said to the old man, who chuckled dryly before shaking his head in disbelief.
"So, if I'm not mistaken, what I saw in the news is called teaching Charles a lesson, right?" the old man asked him with a sarcastic tone, but Charles remained silent, not knowing what to say.
"Tell me, Charles, the last time you talked to me about Xavier, what did I tell you?" The old man asked him.
"You told me to concentrate on Sarah and that you would take care of Xavier," Charles said to him.
"I'm so glad that you still remember that; so tell me, did you concentrate only on Sarah just as I had instructed you?" The old man asked him.
"No, I didn't, Charles said to the old man in reply, and he nodded his head in reply.
"Tell me, Charles, are you in love with Sarah?" The old man asked him, and immediately he widened his eyes in surprise.
"What!! No, of course," he said to the old man.
"Then why did you go after Xavier just because he threatened that he wouldn't allow you to have a happy life after marrying Sarah? Was the main mission to live happily with Sarah?" The old man asked him.
"No, sir," Charles said to him.
"What was the main mission?" The old man asked him.
"Get married to Sarah, steal all her properties, and then divorce her," Charles said to him.
"Then why are you falling in love with her instead of concentrating on your mission?" The old man asked him.
"Sir, I haven't fallen in love with her," Charles said to the old man.
"Are you saying that I'm blind?" The old man asked him.
"No, sir," Charles said to him.
"Well, that's what you are saying; if not from your actions, even a child can already tell that you have fallen in love with Sarah. Well, to be sincere, I'm not surprised. Sarah is a beautiful lady, so it's normal that you fall in love with her; but what isn't normal is you forgetting that you are on a mission of freedom, and that's why I'm going to help you remember it," the old man said to Charles before snapping his hand, and immediately his men came out and surrounded Charles.
"Take him to the torture room; torture him till he remembers that he's on a mission, but make sure you don't touch his face; he has to look handsome during his wedding, which is in two days," the old man said to his men, and without hesitating, they grabbed Charles and started walking away while ignoring his pleadings.
