Chapter 119: Was The Audio Recording Fake?
It was six PM in the evening. Xavier was sitting on a sofa in his sitting room, and right in front of him was his computer, through which he was following the meeting he had organized with the shareholders of his company.
Normally, the meeting was supposed to take place the previous week, but due to how busy he has been at Quim Corporation, he couldn't participate in the meeting, so he postponed it to the weekend, precisely on Sunday.
It was an hour-long meeting that began at five p.m., so the meeting was almost coming to an end.
"So aside from everything that has been discussed so far, does anyone have something else to add before we end the meeting?" Xavier asked them while adjusting the little microphone that he used to change his voice so that the shareholders wouldn't know that it's him.
"Actually, sir, we wanted to ask when you are finally going to present yourself to us. I mean, it's been over three months since we started working together, but you have shown us your real face; we only keep on interacting with your personal assistant," the man whose name was David said to him.
"Come on, Mr. David, why do you like bringing up this issue every time? I have told you guys that because of some circumstances personal to me, I can't reveal my identity to anyone yet; when the right time comes, I will reveal it to all of you. I hope you can all have a little patience with me," Xavier said to them.
"No problem, Mr. Frank; as long as you are keeping on to our agreements, I don't think there's anything to be worried about," one of the shareholders said to Xavier who was actually using Frank as his nickname.
"Absolutely Mr. Edward," Xavier said to him.
"I think this will be all for today. Have a nice evening, gentlemen," Xavier said to them before putting an end to the meeting.
After putting an end to the meeting, he went through some files in his computer for some minutes before switching off the computer, and with that, he took the remote control that was on the table and switched on the television, and immediately the first program that surfaced was the news about the audio recording of Adrian and Charles discussing the bad motives behind the wedding.
After listening to the news for some minutes, Xavier scoffed before standing up and taking the computer and other materials he had used for the Zoom meeting and climbing the stairs to go and keep it in his room.
He was still on the stairs when he started hearing the sound of someone knocking on the door.
'Who is it this time around?" He asked himself before rushing to his room and keeping the materials and returning back to check who it is.
Meanwhile, the person kept on knocking nonstop after he had told the person that he was coming already.
Getting enraged by the intensity of the knocks, he walked to the door and opened it only to see Sarah standing at his doorpost with an unhappy facial expression, and with that, he arched his brows in surprise while wondering if his eyes were playing jokes on him.
After some minutes of staring at each other without uttering a single word, he scrubbed his face with his hand in order to be sure that she was truly standing in front of him.
When he lowered his palm from her face and noticed that she was still in front of him, glaring angrily at him, and with he stretched out his hand and poked her nose, and immediately Sarah slapped his hand away from her face.
"What the hell is wrong with you, and what's with the childish behavior?" Sarah thundered angrily at him.
"Well, coming to someone's house without prior notice and trying to break the person's door isn't childishness, right? Xavier asked her.
"Also not uttering a single word when the person opens the door you wanted to break down isn't also childishness, right?" Xavier asked her once again with an inquisitive look, but she remained silent while glaring angrily at him.
"Let me guess, you missed the road, right?" Xavier asked her with an inquisitive look.
"No, I didn't," Sarah said to him.
"Okay, to what do I owe the surprise visit then?" Xavier asked her.
"I want to ask you some questions, and I want you to be very sincere with me," Sarah said to him.
"Is it office-related?" Xavier asked her.
"No, it isn't," Sarah said to him.
"Then you don't have the right to tell me how to answer it; if I'm going to be sincere or not, it's a personal decision," Xavier said to her, not minding her angry glare.
"By the way, come in; no gentleman leaves a lady standing at the doorpost," Xavier said to her.
'Gentleman, my foot,' Sarah scoffed inwardly.
"I don't want to come in; I'm not going to take much of your time, so I don't think it's necessary to come inside," Sarah said to him, and Xavier shrugged his shoulders.
"Well, I want to go inside; you can stay outside if you want," Xavier said to her before walking inside, and with that, Sarah sighed heavily before following him inside.
"Do you mind if I offer you a drink?" Xavier asked her when she came inside.
"No, I don't drink with my enemies," Sarah said to him before sitting down on one of the couches.
"Just as I had expected," Xavier muttered to himself before sitting down.
"So what is this thing you want to tell me that made you take the risk of coming to my house alone?" Xavier asked her.
"Were you the one that posted the audio recording at the church today?" Sarah asked him while peering into his eyeballs.
"What if I say yes?" Xavier asked her.
"The audio recording was fake, right?" Sarah asked him.
"What?" Xavier asked her with furrowed brows.
