Chapter 64: Cheering Her Up
Once Xavier came out of Sarah's office, he saw Lucy standing in front of the office while holding some files and with that he used his eyes to scan her from head to toe.
"Good evening sir," Lucy greeted him in order for him to divert his gaze since she wasn't comfortable with the way he was staring at her.
"Were you eavesdropping?" Charles asked her with a furrowed brows.
"What!! And why would I do that?" Lucy asked him ignoring the fact that he was Sarah's boyfriend.
Without uttering a word to Lucy, he turned and started walking away.
"What's gotten into him?" Lucy asked herself before placing a knock on Sarah's door.
"Come in," Sarah said to her after some minutes of silence and with that Lucy opened the door and walked in.
"Hey Sarah, you forgot this in the conference room," Lucy said to Sarah while handing her the file she forgot in the conference room and with that she noticed that Sarah had been crying before she came, that was probably the reason why she took some time before asking her to come in.
"Thank you," Sarah said to her before collecting the file from her and dropping it on her desk while avoiding Lucy's gaze so that she won't notice that she was crying.
"Sarah what's wrong, were you crying?" Lucy asked Sarah who was still avoiding her gaze.
"No I wasn't crying, it's just that something entered into my eyes," Sarah said to Lucy and immediately she scoffed at her knowing that she was lying.
"You suck at lying, do you know that?" Lucy asked Sarah and immediately she raised her head and looked at her while smiling and at the same time tears started streaming down her cheeks.
Sighing heavily Lucy approached her and squatted down next to her before hugging her, allowing her to pour her tears on her shoulder.
"Thanks for cheering me up," Sarah said to Lucy after they had disengaged from the hug.
"Don't mention it, what are friends for? But you have to tell me why you were crying and why your boyfriend was acting strangely earlier if not I will charge you for cheering you up," Lucy said to Sarah before sitting down on the chair opposite her and with that Sarah sighed heavily before explaining everything to her.
"Wow!!" Lucy exclaimed after Sarah explained everything to her.
"But to be frank with you, you aren't supposed to be crying," Lucy said to Sarah.
"What?" Sarah exclaimed in surprise.
"Yeah, since all these while, you have been the one attacking Xavier, ruining his reputation every now and then, he had lost everything all thanks to you. If this is how he cries every time you attack him, then I bet he would have already been on the streets by now. But he only attacked you once and it's even publicly but privately and you are already crying," Lucy said to Sarah who frowned at her.
"Tell me Lucy, on whose side are you, Xavier's side or mine?" Sarah asked Lucy and immediately she smiled at her.
"Of course I'm on your side and o will always be on your side. But come to think of it, why did you allow Xavier to hold you in suchlike manner?" Lucy asked Sarah.
"To be sincere, I don't know what got into me that day and I didn't even imagine that he was planning something against me," Sarah said to Lucy.
"Well just as I said earlier, if you hate someone too much, you might end up falling in love with that person," Lucy said to Sarah earning herself an eye roll from Sarah.
"You should actually stop saying that, I'm not in love with Xavier and I'm never going to be in love with him," Sarah said to Lucy with a deep frown.
"But you are in love with Charles right?" Lucy asked her.
"Yes of course," Sarah said to him in reply.
"Then what are you still doing here?" Lucy asked Sarah.
"What do you mean by that?" Sarah asked Lucy.
"If you are in love him then why didn't go after him and apologize? Jeez Sarah, haven't you been in a relationship before?" Lucy asked Sarah.
"Of course I have been a relationship before, but with Xavier everything was perfect until he showed me his real colour," Sarah said to Lucy.
"Whatever, just forget about Xavier and go and apologize to him, I'm sure that he would understand, unless you don't want to apologise to him," Lucy said to her.
"Of course I want to apologise, but do you think he will be in his office, it's almost six pm, what about if I call him before going?" Sarah asked Lucy and immediately she ruffled her hair in frustration.
"Sarah!!!" Lucy screamed her name in frustration.
"Why are you acting like someone who just fell in love for the first time, there's no need for you to call him, and I'm not even sure that he will pick up if you call him. So just get going already, it's still thirty minutes to six pm and it haven't been long since he left, so just getting going.
"Okay, and please stop screaming my name like that, I'm still your boss," Sarah said to Lucy before rolling her eyes at her and with that she quickly arranged her stuffs that were on the table inside her bag.
"Well you are right, you are my boss here, but I'm also your boss when it comes to some issues," Lucy said to Sarah.
"Yeah I have heard boss. Hope I'm not forgetting?" Sarah asked Lucy.
"No, the only thing you are forgetting is to be yourself and to stop being nervous.
"Okay I will surely remember that. Wish me luck," Sarah said to Lucy before opening the door and walking out.
"Good luck my friend," Lucy said to her before sighing heavily and with that she went to her desk and arranged the tattered files on it before switching off the light of the office and walking out.
